Meenikunno Bog is one of the most exciting and unique bog landscapes in Southern Estonia, where nature is constantly changing. A 2-3 hour bog hike (up to 5 km) is suitable for beginners, nature enthusiasts, and families with older children. The length of the hike is adjusted to the group's wishes, and an experienced guide introduces the bog's formation, folklore, and the area's biodiversity. Along the way, you may encounter cranes, swans, or even capercaillies. It is an ideal destination for those seeking peace, adventure, and authentic Estonian nature. Guided bog hikes take place year-round; in winter, Meenikunno offers white expanses, enjoyable views, and easy movement; in early summer, a sea of blooming plants; and in autumn, a bubbling play of colors. Tellingumäe's 25-meter-high observation tower offers a beautiful view of the winding Mustjõgi gorges and the hilly landscape typical of South Estonia. Latvia can be seen in the distance, as nearby the Mustjõe River joins the Koiva (Gauja) River on the Estonian-Latvian border. Tellingumäe observation tower is a great place to observe nature and birds. Several rare bird species can be found here. The tower has an RMK campfire site and marked cycling and hiking trails of different lengths, like the Estonian-Latvian joint cultural heritage trail and the Koiva Cycling Trail.

The hiking trail on the Luhasoo landscape protection area is a 5 km long loop, partially covered with a boardwalk. In the center of the trail, there is a small forest hut on a bog island for overnight stays. Hiking in the flat terrain of Luhasoo offers a contrast to the otherwise hilly nature of Võrumaa. The peace and quiet of the bog help nerves to relax from city noise and daily activities. The boardwalk-covered part is easy to traverse even with children. It is possible to take breaks along the way. Luhasoo bog is known for its dark-water pools and moss fields shimmering between them. As you move along the trail, picturesque views of the bog lake and surrounding transition bog landscape unfold — it's an ideal place to breathe in clean air, take a break, and recharge naturally. The hike offers both visual diversity and an opportunity to truly escape the noise of everyday life. Good to know: firewood needed for the forest hut should be taken from the shelter at the start of the boardwalk. The forest hut is available for free use.
From early spring until late autumn, a canoe and kayak trip on Võhandu River is an exiting way to have fun and gain new experiences.As an alternative to familiar canoes, we also offer river kayaks. The Tartu County Recreational Sports Centre is the perfect place for spending an active vacation, relaxing, and boosting your health. The Gods of the Earth Park in the Sports Centre is a great source of energy! The centre offers something for everybody – children can have fun on a playground and at the Häpi adventure trail, and older people can enjoy disc golf, health trails, the largest network of mobile orienteering trails in Estonia, different sports courts, etc. It is also possible to train in an outdoor gym in the pine forest and put your skills to the test under the guidance of an instructor in shooting, laser shooting, or archery. After a day full of sports, you can relax in a sauna and use a grill house. The centre is a popular location for organising birthdays and summer retreats.
Come walk with your family on the Taevaskoda hiking trail, located in the Ahja River Valley Landscape Reserve. The trail starts from the Taevaskodade parking lot and runs circularly along both banks of Ahja River, where the outcrops of Väike and Suur Taevaskoja, caves formed by springs, and picturesque views catch your eye.At the beginning of the hiking trail, there is an information board with a map of the recreational area and the trail. On the trail, signs in Estonian, English, and Russian will help you find the way. Visitors with a wheelchair or a stroller can travel along the alternative trail to Suur Taevaskoda, length 3 km. Good to know: you can see kingfishers flying around while walking in Taevaskoda.
