Võru Town Gallery

Võru Town Gallery focuses on promoting art and cultural activities in Võru, on introducing professional art and organising exhibitions and exhibition-sales.For expositions the gallery mostly uses the balcony lobby on the 1st floor of the Võru Community Centre, called Kannel, and the room in front of the small hall. There are also exhibitions in the lobby of the ground floor. All rooms are equipped with modern spotlights that move along buses.

Linnutee hiking trail, bird observation tower

The bird observation tower on the Linnutee hiking trail is located in Kärevere Nature Reserve, which is one of the most visited places among bird enthusiasts. There are over 200 bird species here!The six-meter observation tower is perfect for admiring birds, their migration, and nesting, as well as the spring floods, and the diverse rivers, meadows, and forests. The purpose of this area is to protect rare species of birds, animals, and plants, as well as their habitats, forest and meadow communities, and inland water bodies. The local protected species include the black stork, the lesser spotted eagle, the white-tailed eagle, several bat species, the asp, the European bullhead, and others.

Cantervilla Castle (Pikajärve manor)

Pikajärve manor, which is also known as the Cantervilla Castle, is probably one of the cosiest manors in Estonia. The main building (built in 1908) and the vivid quarry stone outbuildings are on a landscape filled with beautiful dome-shaped hillocks, high up on the shore of a lake. The walls of the halls of the eye-catching main building are decorated with landscape paintings and portraits, antique furniture and the light from the chandeliers add festivity and romance. The manor is private property at the moment and operates as an establishment for holding different events and offers accommodation.

Café in Varese Guesthouse

If you wish to have a meal and a cup of coffee in north-western Võru County, the Café in Varese Guesthouse that is located by Võru-Viljandi Road is a suitable place for that. The menu contains miscellaneous dishes at favourable prices and in case of fair weather it is possible to enjoy your meal in the picnic area or in a conic tent. Upon advance notice, groups are served and banquet tables are prepared.

Tartu Mattiesen Print Shop

The former Mattiesen Print House on the corner of Ülikooli and Vallikraavi Streets is also a noteworthy architectural monument in the centre of Tartu. Printer Carl Gottlieb Mattiesen bought the plot in 1848 and the print shop of the University of Tartu was moved into the wooden house. A stone annex was added to the building later.The building was redesigned in 1997 (architect M Raid) into a café-museum, bookstore and pub. Wilde Pub and Café operated in the building for a long time. A group of bronze sculptures depicting Oscar Wilde and Eduard Vilde was opened in front of the building in 1999 (authors M Karmin and T Trummal).

Ilmatsalu Motel

Ilmatsalu Motel, located in Ilmatsalu near Tartu, is the best place to stay for bird and nature lovers, as the accommodation is surrounded by a birdwatching tower, hiking and cycling trails, forests, bogs, and lakes. It is also possible to enjoy boating on Lake Ilmatsalu and the Emajõgi River.The windows of the motel’s cosy rooms offer wonderful views of Ilmatsalu Park or the artificial lake. While relaxing on the terrace, you can listen to the birds singing or admire the sunrises and sunsets.For parties, birthdays, seminars, and other gatherings, it is possible to rent our hall or a red bar – a small hall with a fireplace and a terrace.

Kääriku Sports Centre Hostel

The Kääriku Sports Centre Hostel was completed in 2017. The building has eight double rooms with all comforts (so-called coaches’ room) and 33 four-bed rooms with bunk beds. There is a rest room with a TV and a PS4 in each of the four wings of the building. Check-in takes place at the reception of Kääriku Hotel, where guests receive personal door cards or wristbands. Kääriku Sports Centre offers many activities in summer and in winter (skiing, hiking, cycling). There is a playground for children. You can also play tennis and other ball games, swim, camp, and grill.Come to Kääriku!

Lake Viti hiking trail and observation tower

The Lake Viti hiking trail is a nature trail that passes through an exciting hilly forest landscape. The trail information boards provide information about the Vitipalu forests, the woodpeckers that inhabit them, their nesting sites, the ant kingdom, and more. The trail features a hiking hut, a campfire site, Viti Lake, a 20-meter-high wooden observation tower overlooking the surrounding greenery, and a pleasant picnic spot with shelters. The Lake Viti trail is suitable for hikers of all ages, but it is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The Lake Viti hiking trail begins and ends at the trail parking lot. The trail is marked with yellow stripes.
