A monument to those, who fell in the War of Independence, was opened in Misso on 26 May 1935, and the activities of the 1st cavalry regiment in the battles of the War of Independence were immortalised. The monument was demolished in 1945.The reconstructed monument was reopened on 27 August 1989. The granite pillar placed on a base of quarry-stones is 2.5 m tall. Its main side has the symbol of the cavalry unit along with the text “Here, the 1st cavalry regiment fought in the War of Independence on 19 April 1919”. In front of the monument, there are six granite plates with the names of those that fell.A monument to World War II is erected only a few steps from the Monument to the War of Independence.

The TYPA Print and Paper Art Center, located in Tartu, invites you to participate in a paper marbling workshop. This technique, which is over a thousand years old, is a simple yet captivating way to create unique artworks. Marbling paints are dripped into a special water bath, where they float on the surface, and beautiful patterns can be formed using bamboo sticks or other tools. When paper is gently placed on the water's surface, the pattern transfers onto the sheet, creating a distinctive pattern. Each marbled paper is unique because the process starts anew with each sheet. This makes the workshop a special experience, resulting in something new and surprising every time. Participants can experiment with different colors and shapes, allowing creativity to flow freely. The finished paper can later be used in various ways. It is perfect for decorating cards, invitations, and gift packages, as book covers, or even as an interior design element. The marbled paper sheets created in the workshop bring joy both to the creator and as gifts for others.

Come and discover the magic of blind embossing! Create your own embossed artwork in a unique printmaking workshop. Cut an image into a linoleum sheet and see how the play of shadow and light remains on the paper. Blind embossing is a printing technique where a linoleum block is printed without color, leaving only a relief mark on the paper. In the workshop, each participant will make a linoleum block (10x15 cm) according to their own design. The Art Nouveau summer residence of General Nikolai Reek on the shores of Lake Õrsava is undoubtedly an architectural gem of the North Military Training Camp, which has been restored in a way as close to the original as possible.Since June 2020, the Värska Visitor Centre has been operating in the building. The exposition of the centre provides information about the Pechory Northern Military Training Camp, founded here in the 1920s, the events of the War of Independence, and the use of medicinal mud and mineral water in this resort area.The visitor centre has a small café and you can rent bicycles, boats, pedal boats, or skates here, depending on the season, and there is also a car park for caravans.
