The exhibition “Manure and Milk” adds to the excitement, where you can also see a rare manure spreader. For the more adventurous, the slightly gut-wrenching veterinary room takes a look at the history of animal treatment. The museum’s treasury, or open storage, also awaits visitors, where fascinating objects from the museum’s collections are on display. The Estonian Rural Museum ticket gives you access to all museums in the complex, including the Rural Curiosity Center.

Ala-Rõuge Guesthouse provides affordable accommodation in the heart of Rõuge. The former mill building of the local manor, it dates back to 1885. In the intervening years it served many purposes, but was fully restored as a guesthouse in 1998. It is spacious and the hosts are very welcoming.Just a stone's throw from the guesthouse is Estonia's deepest lake, known as Rõuge Suurjärv, which is perfect for swimming in summer. There are also hiking trails in the surrounding forests. Winter pastimes such as skiing and skating provide fun for all the family. Piusa Pottery is a ceramics studio open to the public. Visitors can watch traditional, as well as unique works of art and handicraft items being created before their very eyes. In the historic basement of Alatskivi Castle, a workshop led by a master potter awaits you, where you can sculpt cups, bowls, or other clay objects yourself. This experience combines creativity, craftsmanship, and the unique atmosphere of the manor. Book a workshop in advance! However, if you visit the castle with children and master Tanel is working at the same time, you can leave the children to sculpt in the pottery room—it's often the children's favorite activity at the manor! The Winter Church is located in a converted auxiliary building of the old church manor and is used mostly in the winter period. It is a small and cosy church that was built largely with the money donated from Finland. The church was consecrated on 6 December 1992 – the Independence Day of Finland. The consecrated name of the winter church is the Widow and Orphan Chapel. It is dedicated to widows because they were the ones who kept the church alive with their small salaries in the Soviet times. The blue, black and white flag of the Estonian Student Union, which later became the national flag and in 1991 the official flag of the state of Estonia, was consecrated in the rectory of the church next to it
