Seto culture workshop “Putting on Seto clothes”

You are invited to Obinitsa Museum to dress up!
The Seto culture workshop “Putting on Seto clothes” is about putting on Seto women’s clothes. One member of the company or group will put on the garments. While dressing, the guide will tell you how a Seto woman and man should dress according to tradition, including how to distinguish a married woman from an unmarried girl. The historical context and significance of the objects in Seto culture will also be presented.
Come and learn about Seto folk costumes and history!

Villa Tammekann (Alvar Aalto House)

Villa Tammekann is an architectural landmark, where the Granö Centre of the University of Turku and Tartu operates.The world-famous Finnish architect Alvar Aalto designed the building as the home of August Tammekann, Professor of Geography at the University of Tartu. The University of Turku Foundation bought the house from the children of Tammekann in 1998, and then the building was overhauled mainly in accordance with the drawings of Alvar and Aino Aalto. The overhaul was recognised with the Europa Nostra Prize in 2001.The house is part of the National Register of Cultural Monuments and the international IconicHouses network.Groups must book a time to visit the house.

Boat trip on the historic barge “Jõmmu”

The barge Jõmmu is a traditional wooden merchant sailing ship, the only one of its kind to have been restored. Step aboard and sail on a historic ship and enjoy the beauty of Emajõe-Peipsi's nature and views of the city of Tartu! Barge trips can be booked for larger groups for seminars, birthdays, or other special events. Smaller groups are welcome on scheduled trips. Coffee and tea are served on the ship, and it is possible to order catering, guide service, a bagpiper, workshops, and an overnight stay on the barge. Set sail on the historic Jõmmu!

Varnja Samovar House

Peipsiveere Samovar House is a small museum in the Old Believers' village of Varnja that introduces visitors to the world of samovars and tea culture along Lake Peipsi. The private collection, accumulated over decades, contains more than 200 diverse samovars. From simple tin samovars to rare ones with elaborate engravings, reflecting the skills and traditions of masters from different eras. The exhibition, located in an authentic Old Believers' house, offers visitors insight into why the samovar was more than just a kettle for centuries. Stories reveal the origins of samovars, manufacturing techniques, usage methods, different design types, and tea-drinking traditions in the communities along the lake. Every guest can taste genuine samovar tea and the famous Ivan chai, and try traditional boiled sugar with the tea, an integral part of Old Believers' tea culture. If desired, one can also explore handmade samovar accessories and hear stories from the hostess of Mesi Tare about preparing, serving, and respectfully preserving tea.

The Medieval Theme Park and Pilgrim House at Vastseliina Episcopal Castle is a unique destination in South Estonia, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the medieval world. This place combines the ruins of a 14th-century castle, a sanctuary, interactive exhibitions, and activities suitable for history buffs, families, and pilgrims alike. Scooter hike in Taevaskoja

A scooter: interesting, attractive and definitely worth a try! Our scooters are modern, lightweight, thoughtfully designed and perfect for use on cross-country trails. The hiking trail, winding through the diverse landscape, is peppered with many picturesque sights including the Small and Big Taevaskoda, the Ahja River, Otten Stone Bridge, shooting locations of the hit movie "Viimne reliikvia" (The Last Relic), accompanied by bird songs and whispers of the forest. When exploring the nature on a scooter, you will forget your everyday problems and experience the full beauty and tranquility of nature.This hike, led by a guide, lasts between 2 and 3 hours. Visit to Murimäe Winery and Vineyard

The secret to good wine lies in Murimäe — local ingredients, well-chosen grape varieties, a sunny slope near Otepää, and a northern climate — but what else? Paduvere Farm Museum

The museum introduces the life led by farmers in the 18th century and the everyday lives and work of our forefathers. There are five oak sculptures created by St Petersburg artist Grigori Azarenkov by the museum. The museum is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, which make it a popular venue for folk parties and theatre performances.
