The permanent exhibition Earth. Life. Story. includes nearly 8,000 scientific exhibit items, which tell the development story of planet Earth from the beginning of the universe until the modern day. At the exhibition, you can explore the traces of life from millions of years ago, admire shiny minerals, watch the so-called night airport of butterflies, or track the movement of the placoderm fish from the Devonian era. You can look the first jackal caught in Estonia in the eye and experience the human body through the eyes of a reptile. Visitors will be glad to see the favourites of several generations: the elk, bison, and giraffe. We also have live animals, such as the Python Regius, a turtle, a green iguana, and many other small exotic animals. See you at the Natural History Museum!

The cultural layer of Rõuge settlement hid several ruins of residential buildings and a number of findings of household items. Subsequent to the settlement is a fortress that is situated on the western part of the natural small cape and where the residential buildings were located, but today, only the end ramparts of the fortress with ditches in front of them can be seen. During Middle Iron Age, people mainly subsisted on slash-and-burn clearance, cattle-breeding was less developed. Some examples of tools of local craftsmen were found among the finds from Rõuge; the finds can be seen in Võrumaa Regional Museum.In 1613, Rõuge is mentioned as a parish for the first time. The modern-day small town came into being in the 19th century.

Of the Orthodox churches in Võru County, Ritsiku church in Mõniste is the second oldest (dating back to 1855). The oldest is St Catherine's Church in Võru itself.The church in Ritsiku was consecrated in the name of the prophet John the Baptist. Its name day is celebrated by the congregation every year on 24 June.The congregation was established in 1837. The church was constructed from timber and has a tin roof. It was originally known as Mõniste church, since it was located on the lands of the Mõniste estate. But since it was not in Mõniste itself, it was renamed Ritsiku church in Mõniste.The sacristan and parson did a lot of work in educating the local community. Until 1931 the congregation had its own parish school and three smaller schools.

Karlova is a neighborhood in Tartu that captivates visitors with its bohemian atmosphere. In Tartu's Karlova district, there are historical wooden houses, secret courtyards worth discovering, unique cafés loved by locals, greenery, and plenty of street art. In the heart of Karlova are several important community places – the cozy Karlova Kohv, the popular meeting spot Barlova Bar, and the Karlova Harbor area by the Emajõgi River, suitable for more peaceful leisure. The neighborhood dates back to the houses built on the lands of Karlova Manor in the 19th–20th centuries, which have developed into today's unique living environment. The oldest settlement, at the beginning of Kalevi Street, dates back to the 18th century and architecturally differs from the rest of the area. In spring, Karlova Days take place, where you can get to know the neighborhood even better through various events and open courtyards. A tour of the main building of the National Archives!During the tour, we will introduce you to various repositories, work, and office spaces, as well as research halls and libraries. You can, of course, see centuries-old and newer unique archival documents with your own eyes.It is possible to order documents on a specific topic to get acquainted with during the tour.For the tour to go smoothly, we recommend a group size of up to 20 people.The length of the tour is about 1.5 hours.

The National Piano Museum is located in a special building - the historic Holdre Manor.The Art Nouveau-style main building, with its Heimat-style influences, was erected around 1910 during the time of Woldemar von Ditmar. Previously, the manor centre had not been built in a representative style. The architect of the building was Otto Wildau, who also designed the nearby Taagepera and Karksi manor buildings. The aim of the National Piano Museum is to collect as complete a collection of Estonian pianos as possible.By prior arrangement, we offer a musical guided tour with Alo Põldmäe, a composer, singer and music educator who is in charge of the Piano Museum.
