Meenikunno hiking trail

Cabins for hikers, an observation tower and a boardwalk attract many nature lovers to the Meenikunno bog. It is a beautiful recreation area. While walking down the boardwalk, you can see the most common bog plants: leather leaf, bog rosemary, crowberry, Marsh Labrador tea, and tussock cottongrass; at the edge of the bog, dwarf birches can also be found. There are also a number of different species of peat moss of various colours. The bravest hikers can try drinking bog water (it has an interesting taste!) from the overgrown ditch near the edge of the bog.Good to know: The boardwalk is pram and wheelchair accessible.

Kiisa Jahi- ja Matkamaja – a beautiful holiday home in a quiet spot in the country

Kiisa Jahi- ja Matkamaja (Kiisa Hunting and Hiking Lodge) is suitable for seminars, trainings, birthday parties, company events, weddings or simply an enjoyable get-together.The holiday home is located by Lake Kiisa in a quiet rural area in Põlva County. The property has two ponds and a large lawn, where you can play various games and camp. At our barbecue shelter, you can smoke and grill food, or enjoy a warm evening by the fire in the fireplace.We offer accommodation for 12 people; however, upon agreement, the house can accommodate up to 18 people as well.

Hike on the paths and in the footsteps of Sangaste’s Rye Count

We start by meeting in the car park of the Sangaste castle by the yellow window of NG, and will continue from there by bus.The first part of the hike takes us through the Valli quaking swamp on bogshoes. From there, we are going to move closer to the forest park, take a look at the rare species of trees in the dendrological park and enjoy the views across the Juudaoru valley.There will be a picnic at a mystical campfire site.The hike ends in the castle park where you will learn about the history of the manor and rye up to the formation of the cooperation network of Rukkiküla. We will also test the famous echo effect of the castle.

Väimela Health Centre is customer-friendly sports centre that offers exercising facilities to all family members. The swimming complex of the health centre features a swimming pool, a pool for kids and two family saunas, on Saturdays it is possible to go to a public sauna; in addition you can attend water aerobics classes. There is also an aerobics hall, a full-sized squash hall, a gym and a table-tennis board.

Räpina School of Horticulture collection garden

When walking around the Räpina School of Horticulture, you will find an exciting planting area for perennials, and you can enjoy various summer and perennial flowers in the collection garden. In the collection garden, you can admire 50 different varieties of park roses by Rein Joost, lilies of Mart Heering, about 30 varieties of lilacs by Adolf Vaigla, and 20 varieties of vines by Jaan Kivistik.There are more than 600 different species of trees and shrubs throughout the park and the school (dendrological plant material), with herbaceous plants that include perennials, roses, lianas, natural herbaceous plants, and summer plants – a total of almost 1,200 plants.It is possible to book excursions both in the park and in the collection garden.

Kasepää Old Believers’ Prayer House of the Estonian Association of Old Believers Congregations

When in Kasepää Village near Lake Peipus, go and visit the prayer house of Russian Old Believers, which has been operating without interruption since the 18th century.The current prayer house was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It was designed by the governorate architect Wilhelm Schilling in 1902. The Florov school masters renewed the icons of the iconostasis in the prayer house before the Second World War. Some of the icons in the chapel date back as far as to the 17th century.Prayers are held in the chapel in Russian on Sundays at 10 a.m.

Italian restaurant La Dolce Vita

La Dolce Vita is an Italian restaurant which opened its doors in 2003. Its Italian owners serve up traditional dishes from their country. Its pizzas are made in a wood-fired oven which is unique in Tartu, and there is a wide range of pasta dishes to choose from. Some pasta is imported from Italy, while the rest is made on site. The menu also features traditional meat dishes. The quality of La Dolce Vita's menu is reflected in its simple, authentic components: Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, tomatoes and olive oil. In the summer months you can enjoy the warmer weather on the restaurant's terrace. The restaurant itself is close to a beautiful park, which is the perfect place to enjoy the gelato (Italian ice cream) that the restaurant offers.Home delivery available!
