St. Mary’s Church in Tartu

Loov Energia Ceramic Studio is dedicated to creation and design. During the workshop in Torma, one cylindrical mug will be made, which will be left to dry and, after pre-firing, glazed by the instructor. The Museum of Tuglas is the childhood home of Friedebert Tuglas, born on 2 March 1886. Tuglas became a well-known writer for his novel Väike Illimar (Little Illimar) written in 1932. The story of the little Illimar is at the same time the story of a manor in Estonia. Places related to Friedebert Tuglas and the Little Illimar are displayed on a large map, which is also exhibited in the museum. Spatial exposition provides background information for the guests who visit the places related to the novel and learn about the everyday life of the manor house.

Tartu Art House is the home of the Tartu Artists’ Union and the heart of the city's art scene. You will find this historicist red-brick church (architect Arved Eichorn), which is the first new church built in the Republic of Estonia, in the peaceful little town Elva. Tartu St John’s Congregation used to operate in Elva for some time. This is why some details of the Elva Church remind of Tartu St John’s Church – the rarely used plaster and brick imitation of a rose window on the western wall of the church refers to the medieval rose window that can be found in Tartu St John’s Church.

Võru Bank Building is undoubtedly one of the most stylish stone buildings in Võru. The traditional building was completed in 1938 around the then main square marketplace. The style is characterised by a high roof, symmetrical facade with stylised pillar motifs, including national ornamentation. The architects were Edgar Johan Kuusik and Anton Soans, the bas-reliefs were made by Aleksander Kaasik.Currently, the building houses an SEB branch office, the souvenir and gift shop Must Kass, and the editorial office of LõunaLeht.
