Valga War Museum

Would you like to learn more about the past and present of Estonia’s national defense force or see the places where battles took place in Valga County?
When visiting the War Museum, you can get acquainted with military and armored vehicles, tanks, a Forest Brothers bunker, see the largest weapon collection in Estonia, and more. You can test your shooting skills on a shooting simulator. For groups, we offer guided tours, fun rides in various military vehicles, role-playing games with laser weapons, or flight simulations in an MI-8 helicopter, upon reservation.
Our seminar hall can host various events, and we offer various military-themed packages.

A lantern hike with sled dogs in the snowy forests of Tartu County

Hike on the paths and in the footsteps of Sangaste’s Rye Count

We start by meeting in the car park of the Sangaste castle by the yellow window of NG, and will continue from there by bus.The first part of the hike takes us through the Valli quaking swamp on bogshoes. From there, we are going to move closer to the forest park, take a look at the rare species of trees in the dendrological park and enjoy the views across the Juudaoru valley.There will be a picnic at a mystical campfire site.The hike ends in the castle park where you will learn about the history of the manor and rye up to the formation of the cooperation network of Rukkiküla. We will also test the famous echo effect of the castle.

The National Piano Museum

The National Piano Museum is located in a special building - the historic Holdre Manor.The Art Nouveau-style main building, with its Heimat-style influences, was erected around 1910 during the time of Woldemar von Ditmar. Previously, the manor centre had not been built in a representative style. The architect of the building was Otto Wildau, who also designed the nearby Taagepera and Karksi manor buildings. The aim of the National Piano Museum is to collect as complete a collection of Estonian pianos as possible.By prior arrangement, we offer a musical guided tour with Alo Põldmäe, a composer, singer and music educator who is in charge of the Piano Museum.

Guided Lantern Tour in Kalepoeg’s Home

A hike about a kilometre long with a guide and lanterns on the territory of Kalevipoeg's Home. We will visit the local history exhibition in ancient buildings and the playground, pass through a pine forest and the adventure park. We will drink tea that has been boiled on a campfire.Suitable for groups of different ages - kindergarten children, school groups, groups of coworkers, families, friend groups, etc. Catering can also be arranged and rooms can be rented in the community centre or museum. The lantern tour can be a part of your visit or a special occasion for a visit.Addditionally, you can visit the Kalevipoeg Museum and go sledding, ice skating and tubing in winter when there's snow.
