A traditional sauna session lasts at least three (3) hours and the smoke sauna of Mooska Farm can comfortably accommodate eight people. The rich aroma of burning wood is complemented by a whispered note of meat smoked in the sauna, birch boughs, and sauna honey. Since it's located next to a pond, during the winter, you can quickly dip yourself in the nearby icy waters.In addition, the hosts provide guests with thorough explanations about the history, rituals and customs of the smoke sauna, ensuring that every visitor can experience authentic Vana-Võromaa heritage. Both types of saunas rejuvenate the body and mind for several days, making them a great way to relax or start a weight loss journey. The smoke sauna on the shore of the pond has been carefully constructed from massive aspen logs. The stove is made from manor-era bricks, and a half-ton of field stones provides the heat. The ceiling is insulated with one and a half tons of Mooste lightweight clay mixture. The plastic sauna is located at the edge of the forest, heats up quickly, and provides an authentic, old-school sauna experience with the right amount of water in a bowl — just pour it over yourself with a ladle! From the heat of the sauan, you can dash straight into the cool pond. A smoke sauna is a true 'back to nature' experience, from its stone hearth to the birch twigs you cleanse your skin with. There is no smoke in the sauna while you're in it, as by then it has already heated up. Warm and cool water is provided as in the olden days - there is no shower or toilet in the building. You can run down and jump into the pond in just a couple of minutes. The farm's renovated smoke sauna building is a log structure around 100 years old. It has the sauna itself plus an entrance way and two party and recreation rooms which seat up to 30 people. There is also a fireplace. The space is ideal for parties, weddings and other events. You can bring your own food or have the farmer's wife cater for you.
