Hiking in the Old Believers’ villages near Lake Peipus

Emajõe-Suursoo is an interesting and vibrant water maze of several rivers and lakes. We will ride SUP or paddle boards through the watery labyrinth from Emajõe-Suursoo to Lake Peipsi, where we will cook a delicious dinner over a live fire, rest our feet, and spend the night on a wild beach in hanging beds. There is an opportunity to swim, and those who do not want to sleep in can enjoy the sunrise! The trip includes basic SUP training, equipment, two meals, hanging bed rental, and hiking guide service. The uninhabited Salosaar is located in Lämmijärv, about 1.5 km from the mouth of River Võhandu. It is one of the thirty islands of Lake Peipus. The island is special thanks to its nature, history, and the fact that Lake Pskov starts at the eastern coast of the island. This means that during one trip, you can visit two lakes!The guided Robinsonade to Salosaar and back lasts for about two hours. During it, we will move on the lake with kicksleds and stop on the island. A tour of the main building of the National Archives!During the tour, we will introduce you to various repositories, work, and office spaces, as well as research halls and libraries. You can, of course, see centuries-old and newer unique archival documents with your own eyes.It is possible to order documents on a specific topic to get acquainted with during the tour.For the tour to go smoothly, we recommend a group size of up to 20 people.The length of the tour is about 1.5 hours.

At the Metsavenna Farm located on the Estonian-Latvian border, you have a unique opportunity to search for forest brothers in hiding places during a forest brother hike, stay in a bunker, and listen to true stories.The experience continues at the Metsavenna eatery, where simple yet authentic food from the era is served: boiled potatoes with skins, butter, salt, and juice. The visit concludes with a musical experience – singing the song of the former Härmiku forest brothers' orchestra. Tartu Toy Museum, situated in the Old Town of Tartu, takes adults back to the brighter days of their childhood and offers children plenty of interesting things to see and do.The permanent exhibition displays toys that Estonian children have played with throughout the years. Artist-made dolls, souvenir dolls of different nations, and Finno-Ugric traditional toys are also exhibited. Playrooms and workshops are also open.
