At the Obinitsa museum, one can explore the unique culture and history of Setomaa, participate in various workshops and events. Most of the museum collection items are sourced from surrounding villages. Special value is placed on the fine handicrafts of Seto women. The museum is located in the heart of Setomaa and offers an overview of the area's life, traditions, and folk costumes. The permanent exhibition displays authentic farm tools, clothing sets, and photos that reveal different aspects of Seto culture. The museum's most popular program is called "Rõivile!". Dressing up means putting Seto clothes on a woman and doing her hair. During the dressing process, the historical context of the items is introduced. It is possible to order a handicraft workshop at the museum, where traditional Seto belts and ribbons are made. Seasonally, other activities are offered, such as embroidery and wool work introductions and guided village tours.

The winter charm of Lake Peipsi is best experienced on an adventurous ride across the ice with a karakat, offered by Mesi Tare. Karakats are locally built machines created by Peipsi fishermen, equipped with large airplane tires that ensure safe, stable movement on the frozen lake. The ride lasts about an hour and includes stops where Peipsi fishermen's tools, techniques, and methods for catching fish from ice holes are introduced. Additionally, information is shared about local life, Old Believers' traditions, and what makes karakats special. A ride in a karakat offers the chance to experience the ice of Estonia's largest lake and expansive winter views that will be long remembered. Services are provided only when ice conditions are suitable and with the permission of the Police and Border Guard Board to ensure a safe and memorable experience. It is also possible to order rides for larger groups, company winter days, or children's birthdays, making the experience even more special. The Pilgrim House introduces visitors to everything related to medieval pilgrims and pilgrimages. Here you can get acquainted with various medieval holy places and pilgrimage destinations. One of them, the most famous in Northern Europe, was located right here in the Holy Cross Chapel of the Vastseliina Bishopric! Thanks to the interactive exhibit, visitors can experience firsthand what a medieval pilgrim felt, what he feared, and what he loved. You can play medieval board games, and with prior arrangements, we offer various experience packages, including period and themed meals prepared in the Pilgrim House oven to fill your stomach!

The Taevaskoda (Heaven’s Halls) hiking trails offer experiences at every step, regardless of the season and weather. During the hike, we might see a kingfisher while the guide tells legends about the outcrops of Taevaskoda and helps participants recognise the places where the movie Viimne reliikvia was filmed. We will also discuss the relationship between nature and humans over the years. We will agree on the length and theme of the hike with the participants. Cyanotype is the process by which an image is produced to fabric by the combination of chemicals and UV light. The result is an image with white lines on a blue background. Make an exciting gift and produce a photo, drawing, or silhouette of a dried plant on a T-shirt or a cloth bag. Fabrics with a thinner texture which have been washed without conditioner and ironed beforehand are suitable for this. It is also possible to buy a cloth bag on site.If you want to produce a photo, send it to us in digital form no later than one day before the workshop. We will help you with the rest.

Värska Farm Museum is a unique place in Setomaa, offering comprehensive insight into the life of a wealthy Seto fortified farm in the 1920s. It is a great place to experience Seto culture, architecture, and traditions. The building complex includes a smoke sauna, a residential building, a clothing, dining and granary barn, an animal barn, a hay barn, a men's workshop, a threshing floor, a blacksmith's shop, and a pottery factory — you can get an overview of the entire Seto architecture. The museum also houses genuine Estonian farm animals. Various workshops are offered upon reservation, such as making sõir, bread making, and crocheting Seto lace, among others. The largest handicraft shop in Setomaa is open under the threshing floor! Come visit us!

The museum offers interactive experiences where poetry comes to life through sound and video, highlighting the region's unique characteristics.
