Ööbikuorg valley and Rõuge lakes

The Rõuge primeval valley, which is 10km long and 52m deep, contains seven lakes: Kahrila Lake, Tõugjärv, Ratasjärv, Kaussjärv, Rõuge Suurjärv, Liinjärv, and Valgjärv. The lakes are connected by the Rõuge or Ajo River, which starts from the Tindi valley. The side valleys of the Rõuge primeval valley are Tindi, Külm, Mõhk, Ööbikuorg, Tinopeetri, Hinni, Sikasoo, and Järveotsa valleys. The most famous of these is Ööbikuorg, which borders the ancient hillfort from the north. In spring, during the blossoming of bird cherry trees, the valley resonates with the song of nightingales – hence the name of the valley. Several hiking trails run through Rõuge, including the popular Ööbikuorg hiking trail, which takes visitors through the primeval valley, past lakes and springs. The trail is suitable for families with children and is partially accessible by bicycle. In summer, you can swim and paddle in the lakes, while in winter, the same trails are enjoyed by skiers and sledders. In the Rõuge settlement, there is also Estonia's deepest lake – Rõuge Suurjärv (38m) – and the largest Nature Clock in Estonia, whose hands mark the passage of time in nature's rhythm.Good to know: At the edge of Ööbikuorg, there is a visitor center and the Pesapuu observation tower, which offers a view of the entire valley.

St Michael’s Lutheran Church in Räpina

This church, dedicated to the archangel Michael, was completed in 1785. It stands on the shores of a man-made lake in Räpina and enjoys beautiful views over Sillapää castle and park. The walls of the church, which was constructed in Late Baroque style, are made from rendered natural stone. The front of the church is adorned with sculptures dating from the time of its construction, which symbolise Hope and Love. One of the church's most valuable assets, the two-part altar painting entitled 'The Appearance of the Risen Jesus to Mary Magdalene' and 'The Burial of Jesus', was painted by Carl Antropoff in 1871.

Kursi summer manor

The Kursi summer manor was built by count Manteuffel in 1888 as a place to retreat from the buzz and daily activities of the manor centre. The same is offered by the manor today – a noble building in the midst of beautiful nature, secluded enough, but yet close to everything you might need in order to spend a refreshing holiday, focus on productive work, or meet for a long-awaited encounter. The layout and openness of the rooms and the interesting accommodation allow a holiday, seminar, a dignified party, or a brainstorming session with a larger or smaller group just as you like – together or separately as needed.

Haudamäe Resort House

The Haudamäe Resort House offers a perfectly private holiday close to Räpina by a large lake in the Meelva landscape protection area. Nature enthusiasts will surely appreciate the sunny mornings and the bird song, as well as forest and bog trips and the mellow evenings by the fire. Lake Meelva with its dark waters is a lovely place for fishing, swimming and boating in summer, as well as skating in winter. Row boats, canoes, and pedal boats with safety equipment are available for rental.
