Ülikooli Cafe

Ülikooli tn 20, Tartu linn, Tartu maakond, 51007

This building has hosted grand receptions of the nobility and served as a gathering point for student bodies. It was designed in 1876 by architect Otto Mohr for the Nolken family to turn an ordinary home into a residence resembling an Italian palazzo. A cafe opened on its second floor on 5 November 1957 and remained open until 1983.New life was breathed into the cafe in early 2005. With its six rooms, cosy corners, friendly staff and great music, it’s a fantastic place for everyone!

Tõrva Central Square

At Tõrva Central Square, the priority is given to pedestrian comfort and leisure facilities. Spread over almost 13,000 square meters, Tõrva Central Square has most of the space on the footpaths and activity grounds.Landscaping was carried out on 5,000 square metres and almost 2,000 trees and shrubs were planted. The central square of Tõrva runs from the historic tavern building to the Tõrva Town Hall building and from there on to Lake Veskijärv.Architects Mari Rass, Ott Alver, Alvin Järving, and Illimar Klammer.

Alatskivi Church of the Estonian Evangelical Lutheran Church

In Alatskivi, make sure you also visit Alatskivi Church (1636) in addition to the castle. The unique church on Kirikumägi Hill was built by manor owner Stackelberg in 1777–1782. It was later altered and its layout was given the shape of a cross. W. Nolcken’s painting "Last Supper" adorns the altar of the church. The organ was made by Müllerstaedt in 1868.Alatskivi Church has been recognised as a cultural monument. Church services take place at 12.30 p.m. on Sundays; during that time, you can also view the interior of the church.Interesting to know: the graves of important contributors to local culture at Alatskivi cemetery are under national protection.

Monument to Eduard Tubin

The monument to the most renowned Estonian symphonist of all times Eduard Tubin stands on the slope by the Vanemuine Theatre (authors A Vahtrapuu, V Valk, sound installations created by Louis Dandrel). Come and see how the well-known Estonian conductor and composer conducts an imaginary orchestra and listen to sound installations of the works of Eduard Tubin.

This is a four-hour event taking place in the castle, its grounds and other parts of Alatskivi.The day includes:* A guided tour of the castle* A tour of the castle grounds and/or the nearby forest led by a cultural heritage guide, covering the manor-era buildings and other sites* A manor-era meal in the castle restaurantAlatskivi is located in Eastern Estonia, and at first glance the castle seems like something out of a fairytale with its battlements and towers. Varnja Samovar House

Peipsiveere Samovar House is a small museum in the Old Believers' village of Varnja that introduces visitors to the world of samovars and tea culture along Lake Peipsi. The private collection, accumulated over decades, contains more than 200 diverse samovars. From simple tin samovars to rare ones with elaborate engravings, reflecting the skills and traditions of masters from different eras. The exhibition, located in an authentic Old Believers' house, offers visitors insight into why the samovar was more than just a kettle for centuries. Stories reveal the origins of samovars, manufacturing techniques, usage methods, different design types, and tea-drinking traditions in the communities along the lake. Every guest can taste genuine samovar tea and the famous Ivan chai, and try traditional boiled sugar with the tea, an integral part of Old Believers' tea culture. If desired, one can also explore handmade samovar accessories and hear stories from the hostess of Mesi Tare about preparing, serving, and respectfully preserving tea.

Rannamõisa Holiday Village

Rannamõisa Holiday Village is located in a beautiful spot near Lake Peipus. Bring your family, loved one, or friend, and enjoy the picturesque views on a beach and relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. Children can have fun on the sports courts and the playground. You can spend your evenings watching the sunset, talking with your friends, grilling, and going to the sauna. The house can accommodate up to eight people (four double beds in the bedrooms). Pedeli River nature trail and cycle and pedestrian tracks

The nature trail connecting two cities runs along the banks of the Pedeli River. The asphalt trail is 5 km long. If you find yourself on a boardwalk in the middle of the path, you have already crossed the border. Take the time to climb the stairs to Pudrumägi hill, which offers a wonderful view of the twin cities! There is no rush here – there are children's playgrounds, outdoor gyms, a beach, a recreation area on the peninsula, and even dog parks by the trail. The tracks are perfect for walking, cycling, rollerblading, and skiing. Come and enjoy this beautiful city!
