Jakob Hurt (22.07.1839-13.01.1907) was an Estonian folklorist and linguist. He studied theology in the University of Tartu and gained his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Helsinki in 1886. He played the leading role in many major events of the Estonian national movements.The monument to Jakob Hurt (1839-1907) was completed in 1994. Its authors are J Soans and R Tomingas.

The 3 km Tõrvandu forest study trail starts at a crossroads about 400 metres from Pähni Nature Centre. This marked and explained hiking trail is meant for everyone interested in the forest. There are campfire grounds, camping area and shelters on the trail. The 25 observation points of the trail are also permeable by car.

As far as is known, Nohipalo Valgejärv is the most nutrient-poor and the most transparent lake in Estonia. The shores and bottom of this lake are almost completely covered in sand. This is a naturally beautiful spot adorned with a pine forest and berry fields.The beach has a changing booth and a privy, benches, a barbecue area and a shelter. You can leave your car in a tarmacked car park.

Taevaskoja Holiday Centre has its own conference building and a hostel building. The conference building accommodates 26 people in double and triple rooms. Every room has a shower and a toilet.The hostel can accommodate 55 people; the rooms are meant for one to six people. Shower and toilets are shared.Both buildings have free Wifi.We can accommodate up to 81 people indoors. The starting point of these tracks, which are 4 km from the centre of Võru, is at the ski centre at the Kubija Hotel. The tracks measure 2, 3 and 5 km and are lit until 20:00 from Monday to Friday.
