Linocut workshop in TYPA

Linocut is one of the simplest classic graphic techniques where the printing form is cut out of linoleum by hand. In the workshop, each participant prepares a printing plate in linocut technique based on their own design. You can use the finished printing plate repeatedly and print greeting cards, notebook covers, and beautiful pictures. You can get all the materials from us, but we recommend thinking about your design or searching the Internet for inspiration beforehand. The image should have strong contrasts and clear lines, such as black and white, because linocutting cannot be used for smooth colour transitions.

Kolkja Fish and Onion Restaurant

At our small but authentic Kolkja Fish and Onion Restaurant, we offer genuine Old Believer dishes from the Peipsi region, prepared with freshly caught lake fish and locally grown, world-famous Peipsi onions. The dishes are based on traditional recipes passed down through generations, reflecting the unique culinary culture of the Peipsi lakeshore area. The menu features smoked fish, richly flavored fish soup, hearty onion soup, juicy fish patties, and a variety of desserts, including traditional Old Believer pies. The culinary experience is crowned with a traditional samovar tea, which is best enjoyed slowly in good company. The restaurant is located on the Onion Route (Sibulatee), and our cozy setting is perfect for families, friends, and travel groups alike. For groups, we offer the opportunity to arrange storytelling by the restaurant’s hostess about local life and Old Believer customs, as well as readings from old books, making the visit unique and memorable.

Elva station building

This romantic, historic railway station building, established in 1889, laid the foundation for Elva's birth and development. Thanks to the railway and the completion of the station building, Elva became a popular resort destination, attracting many holidaymakers. The station building in the heart of Elva is built in a classical style, and its beautiful facade is characteristic of 19th-century station buildings. Due to its architectural value, the building is under heritage protection. The old building, wooden details, and fascinating history create a pleasant backdrop for photography enthusiasts and those intrigued by architecture and history. While waiting for a train or bus, one can browse the lively library in the cozy waiting room, work remotely, or enjoy a hot drink. The station building also houses the café A la Ain, which offers flavors from around the world. In front of the building is a fountain restored in 2017 with community support. It is the same type of fountain that was originally built there in 1926 and became one of Elva's symbols in the 20th century.
