Tartu Railway Station

Vaksali tn 6, Tartu linn, Tartu maakond, 50409

Tartu Railway Station was built in 1876 outside of the city’s borders. It could be reached by Maarjamõisa tänav, which was lined with trees. The main building of the station consists of three parts and has a standard façade and a transverse gabled roof.
Warehouses, platforms, a depot, a water tower, and two houses for railway workers were located next to the main building.
In the 2000s, the building was restored under the architect Aivar Roosaar. In 2012, the building was reopened for passengers. Café Wedur is now operating in the station building.
In front of the station are bike parking, and Tartu Smart Bike rental docks.

Järvselja Primeval Forest Nature Reserve

Järvselja Primeval Forest or Nature Reserve is the first and, therefore, the oldest forest protection area in Estonia. It was placed under protection in 1924. In 2006, Järvselja Nature Reserve was established, which includes the primeval forest, the surrounding quarters, and the Riiupalu pine forest, a total of 184.4 hectares of land. 2014 marked the year that the nature conservation quarter had not been included in forestry activities for 90 years.Järvselja Primeval Forest is a truly ancient and special, naturally beautiful and untouched place, where, in addition to primeval trees, many unique bird species can be seen.

  • Churches

St. Mary’s Church in Rõuge

The first stone church was constructed in Rõuge in the 16th century. In 1730, the original church, which was destroyed in the Great Northern War, was replaced with one which had an imposing square tower. The church was blessed in the name of St. Mary. The altar-piece "Christ on the cross" by R. von Mühlen is from 1854. In 1860 the walls were made higher and a mirrored arch was installed. In 1930 the church got a 31-register organ built by the Kriisa brothers. The first Estonian pastor in Rõuge was Rudolf Gottfried Kallas.Useful information! You can attend mass at the church every Sunday at 11:00 and in summer, the church is used as a wayfarers' church. Entrance to the tower is for a fee (grown ups 1.50, children 1 and family ticket 3 euros).

SUP hike or event for a group on the River Emajõgi

SUP hikes are enjoyable from the very first moment as it requires no prior experience and is safe, meaning that they are suitable for everyone! Gather your friends and book a hike on the charming River Emajõgi or another body of water. Our instructor will provide basic training or a thorough training course, where you will learn a few tricks!We also organise planned trips (15 euros per person), which can be booked here.When the weather gets colder, you can go to a hot sauna at the end of the hike.

Caravan park of Waide motel

The camping site has places for 50 caravans. The total area of our caravan site is 2500 m². Every vehicle has access to one power outlet. For our guests there is also a service house with showers, toilets, sinks, washing machine and a stove. We have fresh water supply and toilet emptying options. Reception is open from 8 a.m until 9 p.m. If needed, you may use our telephone and internet. The whole camping site has WiFi. We will organize dinner parties with cultural program if you book it in advance. On request we will take you on a trip to South-Estonia with a guide.

Puuriida Pub is a cosy place to eat and drink where you will enjoy delicious meals and have a great time. Even the most demanding customer will find something tasty on the menu. Naturally, there is also a wide selection of beers and stronger drinks available. The pub is a perfect place to host special events - you can choose between rooms on two floors, which we can arrange to meet your wishes and needs.

Tartu County Recreational Sports Centre ski trails

Tartu County Recreational Sports Centre – a winter adventure in Elva's pine forests. Located amidst the beautiful pine forests of Elva, Tartu County Recreational Sports Centre offers numerous opportunities for year-round active recreation. The center is home to the largest and most famous health trail, including the world-renowned Tartu Marathon ski trail, inviting sports and nature enthusiasts to enjoy active leisure time. During winter, visitors can enjoy well-maintained ski trails that start at the Tartu Marathon finish line. The total length of the ski trails on the Tartu Marathon route extends up to 63 km, with 800 meters of illuminated trails, allowing skiing even late in the evening. The ski trails are suitable for both beginners and advanced skiers. All necessary ski equipment, including rental and maintenance, is easily available at the Elva Ski Lab, located just a short drive away. Tartu County Recreational Sports Centre is an ideal place for an active winter holiday, offering sporting challenges, beautiful nature, and memorable winter experiences for every visitor.

Piiroja rallycross course

The Põltsamaa Technical Sports Club developed the Piiroja rallycross course and the complex attached to it: maintenance and recreation areas, a building for referees, open air recreation areas, an ATV course and more. The club has been organising the Estonian championships in the sport since 2008, as well as supercross cup events and ice course competitions. It was also behind the Piiroja Village Sprint series.
