Lake Pangodi and lakeside camping area

Kambja vald, Tartu maakond, 62017

The recreation area by Lake Pangodi is a popular holiday destination, offering a variety of opportunities to enjoy nature. In the holiday complex, you can swim, camp, and make a campfire. The large lawn by the sandy beach has a children’s playground with active holiday elements and a volleyball court. At the beginning of the recreation area, there is a parking lot that can accommodate up to 30 cars.
The Pangodi camping area is by the lake, where you can find three campfire sites with canopies and benches.
Along the Pikksaare hiking trail (1 km) starting from the car park, you will reach the Pangodi campfire site, which is about 500 m from the crowded camping area in the Pangodi park forest.

Kurgjärve Sports Centre

We offer accommodation for up to 256 people and we can service events for up to two thousand people with the use of our camping site. We can put up a stage for different events. We have a basketball court with a wooden floor and sand volleyball courts, guests can also use the gym and running tracks. In winter we have 1, 3 and 5 km ski trails and there's an opportunity to organise ski hikes to beautiful places with trails as long as 20 km. We also have a ice rink and you can rent a sauna by the lake, which includes a 50 metre swimming lane. You can also take a boat out on the lake.

Kaldemäe Hostel

Kaldemäe Hostel is located between the hills and slopes of beautiful Haanjamaa and it is an ideal place if you wish to have an active holiday in nature, breathe clean air and be away from city noise. The territory of Kaldemäe Farm is large and wide; there is a big pond in front of the sauna where you can enjoy water delights, and a village-style swing for children.There's also a fireplace hall that seats 40 people, that is a perfect place for birthdays and smaller parties. The sights and leisure time possibilities of Haanjamaa are only one and a half kilometres from Kaldemäe Farm: you can go for a hike on Mountain Suur Munamägi or find an activity at the Haanja Holiday and Sports Centre.

Kirna hiking trail

Kirna’s 6.8 km study trail provides a good opportunity to explore the Pedja River meadows and forest. To gain a better view of the meadows and river, the Altmetsa Farm has an observation tower. A suspension bridge helps to cross the river. On the right bank of the Pedja River, you will find the magnificent oak tree Musutamm. The trails of wild boars and beavers can also be seen on the study trail.While on the trail, you might hear gunfire as the Kirna Training Centre of the Defence League is close by. The access roads to the meadows intersect the study trail in several places, please carefully follow the trail marking!

Pikasilla recreation area

Pikasilla recreation area, located in Põdrala rural municipality by the southern tip of Lake Võrtsjärv, is easily accessible and has a strategically good location by a waterway (at the mouth of the River Emajõgi). The place has become well-known as a venue of sports competitions and various public events. The area has different sports facilities, a children's playground, cabins and a campfire site; it also has washing and cooking facilities.The services of the recreation area include:- renting the recreation area- renting canoes, kayaks and boats- boat harbour and mooring spots- renting a stadium building and a building with washing and cooking facilities- caravan parking- camping ground for about 100 people- cabins for rent

Hiking trail in the Rõuge Primeval Valley

The Rõuge Primeval Valley hiking trail is as straight as a line, 10 km long, it begins at Hinni Canyon or in the Ööbikuoru Centre parking lot. Beginning at the Ööbikuorg start point, the trail runs along the shores of seven lakes towards Hinni Canyon and offers hikers an opportunity to observe the workings of the area's water rams, see the deepest Estonian lake – Rõuge Suurjärv and visit Rõuge Park.Further on, on the shores of Lakes Ratasjärve, Tõugjärve and Kahrila, hikers can see the local forest communities, rest in meadows or enjoy the village landscape and proceed along the short path towards Hinni Canyon.

Tõrvandu forest study trail

The 3 km Tõrvandu forest study trail starts at a crossroads about 400 metres from Pähni Nature Centre. This marked and explained hiking trail is meant for everyone interested in the forest. There are campfire grounds, camping area and shelters on the trail. The 25 observation points of the trail are also permeable by car.

Kaljupealse campfire site

The Kaljupealse campfire site is located on the banks of the Võhandu River, in a beautiful pine forest. The riverside and high banks offer a beautiful view of the Võhandu River and sand outcrops. The campfire site has a roofed table and benches, a roofed grill, and firewood. The place is ideal for campers, fishing enthusiasts, and as a resting point for guests coming here with boats.Along the high sandy shores, through a beautiful pine forest, there is an unmarked hiking trail where you can enjoy beautiful views of nature or pick berries and mushrooms.

Estonian-Latvian joint cultural heritage trail

An exciting hiking trail runs along the banks of the Koiva River, which borders Estonia and Latvia. You can discover points important to both countries' cultural heritage along the trail! The trail is 22 kilometers long, so there and back comes to 44 kilometers. The trail introduces old Estonians' way of life and offers the opportunity to get acquainted with historical heritage in the middle of nature. The trail includes, for example, Taheva Manor, a windmill, the ruins of a hay barn, and ancient trees. There are several campfire sites and camping sites. The trail is signposted and equipped with information boards in Estonian, Latvian, and English, and it can also be completed by bike.
