On the Onion Route, you can participate in an Old Believers' cooking workshop that introduces the region's traditional foods and preparation methods. The workshop selection includes onion pies with boiled sugar or making and decorating cookies. The instructor is Natalja Rästas, the first onion pie master of the Onion Route, who demonstrates cooking techniques, shares her recipes, and helps each participant follow along step by step. At the end of the workshop, all prepared dishes can be sampled on-site or taken home. The workshops take place in the classroom of the Kolkja Old Believers Museum. The room accommodates up to 15 participants; for larger groups, a suitable alternative can be arranged in advance. To ensure the desired time, it is advisable to book the workshop at least three working days in advance. Additionally, it is possible to order a guided tour of the museum alongside the workshop, which provides an overview of the history, lifestyle, and traditions of the Old Believers, giving the workshop greater depth and context.

A summer rafting trip is comfortable and safe; moreover, it also suits those who otherwise do not have much faith in boating trips. This is a fun activity for everyone who wants to enjoy a rafting trip in a larger group. It is also suitable for families with children.The raft can hold 7 people, the larger one can take 9; in addition, children can sit in the middle. There is no danger of going overboard. You can also take breaks during the trip in order to have a snack on the river banks.Sights of the Võhandu River include: watermill rapids, sand walls, hidden caves; animals: minks, otters, beavers; birds: ducks (romantic couples, mothers and ducklings), kingfishers, falconiforms hunting for ducks.

Rubina is the largest and best-preserved bog in the Mulgimaa area and is an area of great value to nature enthusiasts for its many bird species.A hike through Rubina's beauty, from the moss-covered marshlands; to a picnic lunch on a bog island covered in gigantic trees, is a hike is spent surrounded by a serene marshy landscape. Sightseeing through the many waterbodies of the bog and its swamp islands full of animal and bird life, is an enjoyable experience that can last up 3-4 hours and covers up to 6 km. You will find this historicist red-brick church (architect Arved Eichorn), which is the first new church built in the Republic of Estonia, in the peaceful little town Elva. Tartu St John’s Congregation used to operate in Elva for some time. This is why some details of the Elva Church remind of Tartu St John’s Church – the rarely used plaster and brick imitation of a rose window on the western wall of the church refers to the medieval rose window that can be found in Tartu St John’s Church.

Karl Ernst von Baer was a biologist, the founder of descriptive and comparative embryology and an academician of the St Petersburg Academy of Sciences. He studied medicine in Tartu from 1810 to 1811 and obtained the degree of doctor of medicine here. He was a professor of zoology and anatomy in Königsberg from 1817. He studied anthropology, geography and ichthyology during his time in St Petersburg. He spent the last years of his life (1867-1876) in Tartu where he wrote his 3-volume collection of articles and speeches and participated in the activities of the Estonian Naturalists Society and was elected its president in 1869.The statue of Karl Ernst von Baer was completed in 1886, its author is M. Opeku.

The 5 km ski track of Tehvandi Sports Centre is covered with artificial snow and invites you to ski classic style or freestyle. The relief of the track is difficult with some dangerous downhill parts and it is therefore more suitable for professionals. The track is lit until 10:00 pm every evening. The 10 km Tehvandi hiking track is more suitable for amateurs.
