Otepää Hill Fort represents one of the places worth discovering in South Estonia and is recommended for those interested in nature holidays. Come and conquer the peak of the approximately 13,000-year-old Otepää Hill Fort and take a look at the city of Otepää and its surroundings. Have a picnic, see the ruins of the stone fort founded by Bishop Herman in 1224, and explore the map of ancient Estonian forts. In the 11th century, Otepää was the most important stronghold of the ancient Ugandi County. One of the strongest fortresses in Ancient Estonia was located on this hill. The oldest known firearm in Europe and an ancient war trumpet have also been found here. Come and discover the history of this ancient fortress!

The Monument of Nation is the oldest monument in Tartu. The bones buried under the floor and in the cemetery of St Mary’s Church were found when the main building of the University of Tartu was built on the former site of the church. In 1806 they were reburied in Toomeorg near Vallikraavi Street and the small square Monument to People, which was created according to the drawings of J W Krause and resembles the tomb monuments of Asia Minor (Lykia), was erected there in 1811. The human bones found in the course of archaeological work in the cellars of the main building of the University of Tartu were buried by the monument’s side that faces street on 20 September 1985. A case with information was also buried in the grave.

We organize fatbike hikes in Taevaskoda year-round. From spring to autumn, we ride along forest trails on the banks of the ancient valley of the Ahja River. In winter, we also stop by the ice of Lake Taevaskoda. The most famous places on the route are Suur- and Väike Taevaskoda, Neitsikoobas Cave, and the Kiidjärve water mill and manor park. The tour runs most of the time along beautiful forest trails in the varied landscape of South Estonia. The tour is suitable for anyone who is at least 150 cm tall. The pace is calm, and we take breaks to catch our breath and chat every 15-20 minutes. We talk about nature and local attractions. Taevaskoda has a rich history and cultural heritage; it contains sacred places and springs important to ancient Estonians. This area is known for its sandstone outcrops and magical forest trails. We use regular fatbikes and electric fatbikes (e-fatbikes) for riding. You can find clothing recommendations and information about the equipment you need for the tour on our website. We love good coffee and nature-friendly thinking. As a result, we had the idea to establish a roastery in the cosiest district in Tartu – Karlova. Here, we always offer coffee that is delicious, fresh, and eco-friendly. The selection is available HERE.In the same ‘room’ as the roastery, you will find a cosy cafe where we work hard every day to ensure that our coffee is the best it can be.Our second favourite is porridge: in the morning and at noon on weekdays, you can try it out!On Sundays, we offer delicious pancakes.
