Tartu Von Bock House

Ülikooli tn 16, Tartu linn, Tartu maakond, 51003

You will certainly notice the Von Bock House (1780) at Ülikooli 16 in the centre of Tartu, which used to belong to Oberst MJ von Bock. The University of Tartu bought the building in 1839. The house was renovated and reopened in 2007. There is a mural that depicts the main building of the University of Tartu on the building’s wall that faces the Town Hall and an exhibition of Alar Madisson’s photos of current lecturers and legendary professors of the University of Tartu is up on the wall next to Jakobi Street.Interesting facts: – the Von Bock has been the home of the University of Tartu Clinic, a veterinary school and the library of the Learned Estonian Society in different times. The building currently belongs to the University of Tartu.

Safecracker Escape Room

The Safecracker Escape Room in Tartu offers an exciting and challenging experience suitable for playing with friends, family, and colleagues. During the game, you have to solve puzzles that require both logical thinking and teamwork. There are also plenty of opportunities to think things over and laugh at yourself. The escape room is also suitable for children, as it contains no scary elements. In the escape room, you can use up to three clues to help solve more complex tasks. After the game, each team will receive a document about their escape as a souvenir. Join the game — break the code and get out!

Old Believers’ cooking workshop

On the Onion Route, you can participate in an Old Believers' cooking workshop that introduces the region's traditional foods and preparation methods. The workshop selection includes onion pies with boiled sugar or making and decorating cookies. The instructor is Natalja Rästas, the first onion pie master of the Onion Route, who demonstrates cooking techniques, shares her recipes, and helps each participant follow along step by step. At the end of the workshop, all prepared dishes can be sampled on-site or taken home. The workshops take place in the classroom of the Kolkja Old Believers Museum. The room accommodates up to 15 participants; for larger groups, a suitable alternative can be arranged in advance. To ensure the desired time, it is advisable to book the workshop at least three working days in advance. Additionally, it is possible to order a guided tour of the museum alongside the workshop, which provides an overview of the history, lifestyle, and traditions of the Old Believers, giving the workshop greater depth and context.

Tirtsu Holiday House

This private, cozy log cabin is in Setomaa, South Estonia, amidst fields and beautiful nature. There are rich mushroom forests nearby and the Võhandu River meanders through the landscape. The house has a sauna with all the amenities for guests. On the ground floor, there is an open-plan lounge with a small kitchenette, where you can prepare a delicious dinner or breakfast. On the upper floor, there are sleeping places and a small balcony for relaxing. One hour costs 2.5 euros and the whole day costs 10 euros. We recommend booking the bicycles in advance!Wearing a helmet is compulsory for guests up to the age of 16!
