The central square of Valga is located in the heart of the city and connects the two sides of the city, Valga and Valka, into one whole. The central square offers the residents many opportunities for leisure, such as street basketball and table tennis. The unique benches and a colourful playground for children have become especially popular.Next to the central square are the Lutheran St. John's Church (1816) and the oldest building in Valga, a former administrative building of the county authorities.The central square was opened in 2018 with the help of the architects Gianfranco Franchi, Chiara Tesi, and Rea Sepping. At the end of 2019, the square won the annual award of the Union of Estonian Architects.

During the summer season, beautiful Pühajärve Beach awaits you in Otepää with its clean sand, swimming pier, and full-sized outdoor swimming pool. In the summer, the beach has lifeguards, several catering companies, SUP board rentals, and boat rentals offering row boats, canoes, and pedal boats. A special pier and changing room have been built for visitors in wheelchairs. During the winter, a winter swimming pool is open on the beach. The Tõrva Health Trail winds through the scenic park forest surrounding Lake Vanamõisa, following paths through old-growth trees and lakeside woods. It connects Tõrva Gymnasium, the beach area of Lake Vanamõisa, and the gymnasium’s stadium complex. In 2017, it was recognized as the best health sports facility in Estonia. The main hiking loop is 11.1 km long. In winter, the park offers illuminated ski tracks of various lengths. Together with the Tõrva stadium, Tõrva Veemõnula water and sauna centre, outdoor gym, low ropes course, and disc golf track, the trail forms a well-rounded sports complex.
