Tartu Market is located on the shore of the River Emajõgi, in the open air in the city centre.Here, you can buy local fresh potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, cherries, sweet morello cherries, and the best pickles and sauerkraut in town.Next to the market gates, there is a fish stall on wheels, where you can buy everything the River Emajõgi and Lake Peipus and Võrtsjärv have to offer.Tartu Market even has its own ‘Little India’, where you can buy all kinds of clothes and manufactured goods all year round. Colourful displays and the possibility to bargain with the sellers will make you feel like you are on a southern market.Come to the market!

Oskar Luts Home Museum

Discover the heart of Estonian literature: the Oskar Luts Home Museum in Tartu! The museum is a quiet, charming place that takes you back in time and offers a glimpse into the life of one of Estonia's most beloved writers, Oskar Luts (1887–1953). The museum is located in a functionalist house built in the 20th century, where the author's personal belongings, furniture, manuscripts, and work desk have been preserved. The permanent exhibition reveals Luts's influence on literature, theatre, and film. The authentic atmosphere and warm stories offer a meaningful experience even for those just discovering his name. This is not just a museum, but a home where literature and life meet!

Afternoon tea in Hirveaia at Alatskivi

Preferably at 5 p.m. (or at other times as an exception), we taste 3 different fermented teas made following the traditional method. These include, in addition to vine leaves and currant leaves, the famous Ivan Chai, which was drunk by both the tsar’s family and the common people, as the tea is known for its excellent taste and healing properties.We will also talk about the local life and ancient times.Fermented teas, home wines, and other Alatskivi edible souvenirs can also be purchased.

Boat and canoe rental at Jõesuu Home Accommodation

Jõesuu Home Accommodation offers boat and canoe rentals on the Purtsi River for exhilarating water adventures. You can fish, watch birds, take pictures of nature, or enjoy being on the water. We offer a four-person rowboat for rent (with a motor if desired), two canoes for three people, a pedal boat, and four SUP boards. All watercraft can be rented on an hourly basis. For safety, we always provide life jackets. When the day's adventure ends, we will be waiting for you at our cozy holiday farm. Bring your family or friends and begin your vacation in Jõesuu.

Luua Arboretum

Luua Arboretum exhibits about 500 species and forms of trees and bushes. The arboretum was founded based on the principles of botanical geography with the departments for plants from Europe, Siberia, Central Asia, the Far East and North America.

Tsõõrikmägi meteorite crater

The Tsõõrikmägi hill got its name from the evenly round hollow with steep brinks in the middle of the hill.The Tsõõrikmägi meteorite crater near Räpina dates back to the period after the ice age. Scientists believe that it might be 9,500 to 10,000 years old. The circular dike of the crater is 38–40 meters in diameter.

Kiidjärve Water Mill

Kiidjärve Water Mill was built in 1914 and it used to be one of the largest and most powerful mills in Estonia. The saw mill on the other side of the Ahja River, which was destroyed in a fire in 1962, formed a complex with the flour mill.The mill was a part of the historic Kiidjärve Manor, historically written as Kiddijerw. The mill operated until 1979. From 1987 to 1988, a new dam was built for the mill, and the mill was restarted in 1991. The mill was once again halted in the middle of the 1990s.Good to know: The mill is in private ownership and can be viewed from the outside only.

Canoeing on River Ahja with a pancake picnic

River Ahja is well-known for it picturesque and primeval nature. Sandstone outcrops border the river, you can see beavers, otters and the favourite of nature photographers — kingfisher. Some parts of the river have a stronger current, while others are calmer.The hike begins from Koorvere or Kiidjärve and summer hikes include a pancake picnic. All hikers will be given thorough instructions before the hike and guides will keep an eye on you during the canoeing trip.
