Gallery/store of Loov Energia Keraamikahoov

Kooli tee 18, Jõgeva vald, Jõgeva maakond, 48502

Loov Energia Keraamikahoov is a mysterious place. The entrance, which is made from red bricks, between a low row of bushes, located opposite the old Torma schoolhouse, leads to a somewhat unique yard, where you will find a lovely shop. There, you can learn different ceramic techniques and groups can make something on their own (upon pre-booking). If you wish, you can try to make a small souvenir from clay. The pottery by Erika Aas is special because despite the artist’s creativity, her work is practical and suitable for any interior and coffee or lunch table.

  • Lighthouses

Nina beacon light

On Lake Peipsi, massive fog can sometimes rise in winter. The shore edge disappears with the fog and when it gets dark, the light beam of the lighthouse does not pass through it. It is said that years ago, locals rang church bells to help the fishermen find their way to the shore. The reinforced concrete beacon was built in 1938. A beacon is a lighthouse with a visibility of less than 10 nautical miles. The height of the beacon is 11 metres and the height of the light is 14 metres. In spring, the famous icebergs of Lake Peipus can be seen here. This is because of the stone bridge created by the hero of the Estonian national epic, Kalevipoeg.

Serga Village Chapel

There is a small village chapel near the Estonian-Russian border, which the locals call a tsässon. According to dendrologists, the building was built in 1784. During the Second World War, the chapel was hit with a missile, which shifted the building away from its foundation. The missile can now be seen in the chapel. In 2007, the chapel was repaired and with the permission of the owner, you can also go into the chapel. The chapel holds several icons, decorated with beautiful handmade white-and-red kerchiefs. The saint of the chapel is Saint Anastasia, which is why the village celebrates Nahtsipäev on 11 November.
