Andre Cheese Farm

Kambja vald, Tartu maakond, 62028

How does the robotic milking machine work and how is milk turned into cheese? How is the world’s best Estonian cheese made? Find out in Andre Farm on the border of Tartu County. Visitors can also feed the cows, pet the calves, and taste the products in our farm shop. There are 180 dairy cows and as many calves in the farm. The farm has been operating here since 1999, but our history dates back even further than that. The grandfather of the current host used to have a farm here. Innovation is in our blood – animals were watered with automatic systems and the latest agricultural techniques were used on the field to improve productivity as early as during Estonia’s first independence.

Tartu Town Hall

Tartu Town Hall is a symbol of the historical heart of the city, located on Town Hall Square. The building was completed in 1789, combining Baroque and Early Classicism elements. The Baroque bell tower was completed in 1784. Historically, the town hall has served several functions: a prison and a poorhouse (weighing house) were located here, and the council operated on the upper floors. Today, the town hall houses the Tartu city government, an information point, and a pharmacy, which has been located here for more than 100 years. One of the special features of Tartu Town Hall is the carillon in the tower. There are 34 bells, and beautiful melodies sound daily at 9:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00.

Treski Village Chapel

The tiny Treski tsässon, or Orthodox village chapel, can go unnoticed as you pass by it, though it is located right on the road. The villagers say that the building was built around the middle of the 18th century. Treski tsässon's patron saint is St. John the Baptist, and so St. John's Day is celebrated as a village holiday. Unlike in the rest of Estonia, St. John's Day is celebrated according to the Orthodox calendar here, so 13 days later. It's held on 7 July, meaning the party will be held on 6 July.
