Kivitalu Restaurant Rock Summer

Otepää vald, Valga maakond, 67408

Kivitalu Restaurant Rock Summer is known for its delicious and fresh meals, made with love from ingredients from our farm. You can enjoy a wonderful view of the lake and eat the meat of Kivitalu sheep, as well as pancakes and omelettes made from eggs from our own chicken. We grow potatoes, beetroot, carrots, cucumbers, pumpkins, salads, herbs, garlic, and onions here. Other raw ingredients come from South-Estonian farmers.
The restaurant was named after Rock Summer festivals, which were held at Tallinn Song Festival Grounds – our chef Jüri Makarov used to organise them.

University of Tartu Natural History Museum

The permanent exhibition Earth. Life. Story. includes nearly 8,000 scientific exhibit items, which tell the development story of planet Earth from the beginning of the universe until the modern day. At the exhibition, you can explore the traces of life from millions of years ago, admire shiny minerals, watch the so-called night airport of butterflies, or track the movement of the placoderm fish from the Devonian era. You can look the first jackal caught in Estonia in the eye and experience the human body through the eyes of a reptile. Visitors will be glad to see the favourites of several generations: the elk, bison, and giraffe. We also have live animals, such as the Python Regius, a turtle, a green iguana, and many other small exotic animals. See you at the Natural History Museum!

Tartu Uspenski Cathedral of the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church

Construction of the Tartu Uspenski Cathedral started by the order of Peter I after the Northern War and it was consecrated in 1783. The church was established on the foundation of the Dominican Convent Church. It was initially built in the shape of a cross and was given its quadrangular shape in 1840. Interesting facts: - a chapel to St Isidor, who died as a martyr, was established in the church in the course of its extension; ‑ the Bolsheviks killed 19 innocent people in the cellar of Krediidikassa 80 years ago. Their victims, archpriests Bleive and Berzhanitski, are buried in Uspenski Church.

There is a spring on the north-eastern slope of Väike Munamägi (in the direction of Otepää) that has been considered the start of the Väike Emajõgi River for a long time. Canoe and kayak trips on River Mädajõgi

River Mädajõgi (Rotten River) flows through bogs and flood plain forests. The shores are soft or, as the locals call them, rotten. This is how the river got its name. River Mädajõgi marks the border between Estonia and Setomaa. The river is meandering, calm, and there are no fallen trees in the water. Therefore, the river is perfect for beginners. However, it is also exciting for more experienced guests. During the hike, we will see waterfowl and, if we move quietly enough, beavers, elk, and wild boars. The hike is carried out by Matkajuht OÜ. We will send detailed information with instructions to the participants who have registered to the hike.

Horse-drawn carriage ride at Metsapiiga Farm

A carriage ride with a horse is a calm and safe way to experience the proximity of horses and discover the beauty of Estonian nature without actually being on horseback. Metspiiga Farm offers a comfortable, modern carriage ride suitable for both first-time visitors and those seeking a peaceful, memorable experience. Many guests wish to interact with horses, but riding may seem challenging. A carriage ride is simple and suitable for everyone, regardless of age or previous experience. This makes it a great choice for families, friends, older visitors, and smaller groups. The horse's calm movement has a relaxing effect on both body and mind. During the ride, you hear the quiet movement of the carriage, the horse's steps and breathing, and see the landscape around you. It helps to momentarily escape the everyday rush and enjoy a genuinely simple experience.
