The uninhabited Salosaar is located in Lämmijärv, about 1.5 km from the mouth of River Võhandu. It is one of the thirty islands of Lake Peipus. The island is special thanks to its nature, history, and the fact that Lake Pskov starts at the eastern coast of the island. This means that during one trip, you can visit two lakes!The guided Robinsonade to Salosaar and back lasts for about two hours. During it, we will move on the lake with kicksleds and stop on the island. The two Taevaskoda outcrops on the banks of the ancient valley of the Ahja River are one of the most frequently visited sites in southern Estonia. The sandstone outcrops and the ancient river form the most beautiful part of the Ahja River Landscape Reserve. Legends speak of caves, secret passageways and of demons and a mermaid with a golden comb. A walk from the Saesaare dam to the Small Taevaskoda outcrop, the Emaläte spring, the Neitsikoobas cave and the Large Taevaskoda outcrop, which rises 22.5 metres above the river, is worth undertaking in every season. Tähtvere Mansion was first mentioned in 1515 and belonged to the Bishop of Tartu in the Middle Ages. In 1919, part of the lands of Tähtvere Mansion were sold as the first building plots of Tähtvere District. The main building of the mansion (built in 1910 in the heimat style) has been preserved and is used as one of the study buildings of the Estonian University of Life Sciences (an extension has been added to it).The surviving outbuildings of the mansion are a small animal barn, a maid's house, a barn/grain dryer, a cattle barn, a farmhand's house, and a smithy.The Mansion can only be seen from the outside and it can also be seen for example in the guided bicycle tour "Tartu City Mansions".
Kadaka Bakery is a fairy-tale-like place, created by hostess Merle using recycled materials. In the bakery, traditional Estonian rye bread is baked using natural sourdough, as are buckwheat bread, cinnamon rolls, waffles, juniper-coriander bread, sweet and savory pretzels, pumpkin cake, Italian-style focaccia, rye crisps, and cookies. A visit to the bakery offers experiences in every season and is suitable for the whole family. In the beautifully designed garden, goats, chickens, cats, and mini rabbits can be seen in spring and summer. Regular bread-making workshops and summer garden concerts are held in the bakery. The cultural layer of Rõuge settlement hid several ruins of residential buildings and a number of findings of household items. Subsequent to the settlement is a fortress that is situated on the western part of the natural small cape and where the residential buildings were located, but today, only the end ramparts of the fortress with ditches in front of them can be seen. During Middle Iron Age, people mainly subsisted on slash-and-burn clearance, cattle-breeding was less developed. Some examples of tools of local craftsmen were found among the finds from Rõuge; the finds can be seen in Võrumaa Regional Museum.In 1613, Rõuge is mentioned as a parish for the first time. The modern-day small town came into being in the 19th century.
