Alatskivi Manor combines three completely different cultures: the Scottish culture, represented in the architecture of the manor house; Estonia peasants, people living and working in the manor and on the manor’s land; and the German nobility, representing aristocracy and old German habits.
The restaurant offers its visitors a unique combination of three completely different cultures, expressed in the menu, as one would expect of a restaurant. The visitors can also find well-known, classic dishes from our menu.

Järvenukka Holiday House

51 km from Võru, 15 km from Antsla.We offer accommodation in two old renovated log houses on the north shore of Lake Ähijärv. The houses include a kitchen with tableware. There's also a bonfire site, grill, sauna and boat and the Karula National Park hiking trails are nearby.

Rõuge hill fort and prehistoric settlement

The cultural layer of Rõuge settlement hid several ruins of residential buildings and a number of findings of household items. Subsequent to the settlement is a fortress that is situated on the western part of the natural small cape and where the residential buildings were located, but today, only the end ramparts of the fortress with ditches in front of them can be seen. During Middle Iron Age, people mainly subsisted on slash-and-burn clearance, cattle-breeding was less developed. Some examples of tools of local craftsmen were found among the finds from Rõuge; the finds can be seen in Võrumaa Regional Museum.In 1613, Rõuge is mentioned as a parish for the first time. The modern-day small town came into being in the 19th century.

Haunted dinners at Alatskivi Castle

We offer an unforgettable experience with a haunted dinner at Alatskivi Castle. Travel back in time to 140 years ago when the Nolcken family lived in the manor, and there was no electricity or modern technology. During the evening, the lady of the manor will move through the dark rooms of the castle, telling stories of bygone times and ghostly legends, because the castle is truly haunted! The experience includes a guided tour of the castle and a 3-course period-themed dinner, accompanied by a welcome drink. It is possible to order additional drinks with the courses. The minimum number of people is 10. Come and enjoy the historical atmosphere, delicious food, and mystical stories!

The Tree Garden Warrior

Standing in the landcaped area opposite the former main entrance of the Räpina Paper Factory is the Tree Garden Warrior, a monument to the historical Tree Garden War designed by Riho Kuld in 1984. The locals refer to the warrior as the Iron Man.In 1784 a peasant uprising took place in Räpina following the levying of a bounty tax. In the tree garden of the local manor a battle erupted between the soldiers and the local farmhands, who were armed with poles - ending in the deaths of five local men.

Tähtvere Sport Park winter sports trails

During the winter season, Tähtvere Sport Park offers a variety of winter activities and the famous Tähtvere ski trails, suitable for both amateurs and more athletic visitors. The recreational park features ski trails with artificial snow, totaling approximately 4 kilometers, allowing skiing even when natural snow is scarce. When natural snow is available, additional ski trails open in the dendropark, totaling about 5 kilometers, and a trail along the Emajõgi River, approximately 2.5 kilometers long. At the heart of the park is the Tartu Song Festival Grounds, where an ice rink is opened under the arch in suitable weather conditions. A sledding hill, sports fields, and playgrounds are also nearby. In the same area, it is possible to rent skates and skis according to the season. Note: In rainy weather and when temperatures are above zero, the ice rink and rental services are closed. Tähtvere Sport Park is an ideal place to enjoy winter, be active, and spend quality time in the fresh air.

Monument to Gustav II Adolf

Gustav II Adolf (1594–1632) was the King of Sweden and the creator of the Swedish Empire, who ascended the throne at the age of 16.Gustav II Adolf died in the Thirty Years' War at the Battle of Lützen. In 1632, shortly before the battle, he signed the founding document of the University of Tartu, thus being the founder of the University of Tartu.Otto Strandman was the author of the statue of Gustav II Adolf, which stood behind the main building of the University of Tartu on the King's Square from 1928 to 1950. The statue was removed by the Soviet occupation authorities on 15 May.In 1992, King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden and Queen Silvia reopened a new monument by Elisabeth Tebelius-Myren.

Ületammi (Risbieter’s) cliff

The Ületammi cliff, better known as the Risbieter's cliff thanks to the film The Last Relic (1969), is a sandstone outcrop in the Ahja River Primeval Valley Nature Protection Area, on the Taevaskoja–Otteni–Taevaskoja hiking trail. The murder of Hans von Risbieter was filmed in this place. To the west of the cliff is the Otten's Bridge, which was also used for filming.It is possible to grill and make a fire at the Otten's campfire site near the Ületammi clfif. Camping is also allowed there.
