The largest museum in Estonia with nearly 6,000 m² of exhibition space invites you to discover the everyday life of Estonians throughout history at the permanent exhibition ‘Encounters’ and to learn about the life of the Finno-Ugric peoples in the permanent exhibition ‘Echo of the Urals’. The museum experience is complemented by temporary exhibitions. There is a restaurant and a museum shop. The outdoor areas of the museum are perfect to have a rest and a picnic. There is also a romantic rotunda and a glass-roofed distillery on the shores of Lake Raadi.The Estonian National Museum offers workshops, educational programmes, and guided tours in 11 languages. Järvere Manor was built on the shore of Lake Vagula in 1766 as a support manor of Sõmerpalu Manor. The manor was built by the owner of Sõmerpalu manor, Friedrich Alexander von Möller, Doctor of Philosophy. He had the Järvere Manor made for his mother and it was thus called the Old Lady's House.A park, established in 1830, separated Sõmerpalu and Järvere Manors and there were about 200 different tree and bush species already at that time.The Võru Forest Management Centre operated at the manor during Soviet time. Outbuildings were put in order and rebuilt in 1993.The manor is protected as a cultural monument and is private property today.

The photos displayed here show you the history (nature, time, and culture) of the city and county of Valga from ancient times to the present. The museum is also livened up by models, music, and wax figures. Valga Museum also organises educational programmes, museum lessons and creative workshops. Interesting facts: there is a wax figure of the first Estonian Olympic champion, Alfred Neuland, in the museum.Going to the museum is not a waste of time!

We also offer experimental beers and if you do not find something from this selection, you can choose from 21 tap beers. The beginning of the story of Pühaste Brewery dates back to 2011 when Eero Mander first began making beer. He received positive feedback from a wide circle of beer lovers. The factory was opened in 2016 and the representative bar in 2018.

Our freshwater fish are not exhibited elsewhere in Estonia in such species quantity.About half of Estonia's freshwater fish live here, including more exotic species, as well as turtles, lake balls, and crayfish.You can visit 2 floor aquariums and 2 large cylindrical aquariums. There are more than 25 different aquariums in total. There is also a collection of fishing gear, an exhibition of primitive fish, and much more!You can book a sauna raft for a pleasure cruise or a sauna session and use a seminar room with a million-dollar view. During summers, a café is open.
