Valga Town Hall

Kesk tn 11, Valga vald, Valga maakond, 68203

The Town Hall was built in 1865 and its high half-hipped roof, skylights and turrets make it one of the most outstanding examples of historicist architecture in Estonia. In the foyer of the Town Hall, there is a memorial tablet to Johannes Märtson, who was the local mayor from 1902 to 1917.

Pajusi manor

Pajusi manor was constructed in the 17th century. Its long, stone main building in Classicist style is thought to have been erected in the early 19th century. It was one-storey; only the central section was adorned with a small upper floor, which bears a distinct decorative window. In addition to the main building, the manor as a whole includes a number of other buildings and a large park. Karula Maarja (St Mary’s) Church

Karula Church has been working in the converted manor granary since 1997. The most special feature of the church is the stained glass painting 'Eucharist' of Estonian artist Dolores Hoffmann which depicts local people as the disciples against the background of the holly landscape of Karula.The doors of the Karula Church are open to visitors during Sunday services. Please contact a representative of the congregation if you wish to visit the church some other time. Interesting facts: • The same building was used as an animal barn during the Soviet times. • The stained glass painting was donated to Karula Church by the descendants of the German squires the von Grotes.
