The monument to Peeter Siegfried Nikolaus Põld (1878–1930), the first Minister of Education and founder of the national university of Estonia, the first professor of pedagogy, was unveiled in front of the Ministry of Education and Research on 1 December 2008.The authors of the monument are sculptor Ekke Väli and architect Ain Rööpson.Under the name of Peeter Põld Day, student scientific conferences have been organised at the University of Tartu since 2008, and on the same day, the university issues a scholarship named after him.
August Teppo was a famous accordionist of Võru County. Today, his home farm has been turned into a museum. Visitors can see his workshop, as well as learn about the lifestyle typical of the era. In addition to the exhibition, the museum also organises trainings and cultural events.Good to know: the museum is only open to visitors upon booking during the summer months.

Café Katariina is located in the centre of the City of Võru at a distance of only a little walk from Katherine Church towards the lake. An orthodox congregation was established in Tartu in 1845 and Priest Joosep Shestakovski (1856–1888) initiated the building of an orthodox church. Tartu Saint George the Martyr Church was built using donations from the congregation and it was consecrated in honour of Saint George by Bishop of Riga and Mitav Benjamin in 1870.
