Two main elements are combined - the life of an Estonian peasant and the life and work of Juhan Liiv in the context of Estonian culture.The main farm buildings, objects, and their functions are all introduced.In seeing the life of the peasants, it becomes clear under what conditions Juhan Liiv grew up. Studying the life of the writer and poet gives the visitors ideas about very different parts of his life.It is possible to vary the topics based on the interests of the group visiting.

Being in contact with nature, we feel how something inside us settles again. We conclude the journey together around the campfire, enjoying warm drinks and forest-inspired flavors. The journey is conducted with care and attention by Helen and Anneli, who have trained as forest bathing guides in Japan. Contact Konstantin, the owner of Kostja Onion Farm, when the onions are starting to ripen. You can buy any variety and quantity of onions and onion garlands from him. You can also buy mouth-watering onion pies, which must be ordered in advance. They are worth it! For those interested in onion cultivation, Kostja offers a guided tour (in Estonian, German, and Russian), during which he introduces the traditional onion-growing methods of the Old Believers and modern tips for growing onions in your garden. Karusaare dogsled trips in Tartu County offer unforgettable experiences throughout the year in the forest landscape of Järvselja and the Peipsiveere Nature Reserve in Emajõe-Suursoo. From autumn to spring, we move on off-road carts and, in winter, when there is enough snow, on traditional sleds. You can choose a shorter trip or a longer journey. It is an appropriate activity for the whole family, including children over the age of 3. The hike begins and ends at the sled dog training center, where the instructor shares the necessary safety and driving instructions. On our journey, we take short breaks to water the dogs, and on longer journeys, we stop by the fire to enjoy a bit of heat, light, and warm food. If you wish, you can also order catering to make your trip even more memorable. Trips only take place when the air temperature is below +12 °C and there is no storm warning or wind gusting above 15 m/s.

The basketball court next to the Kalevipoeg Museum transforms into an ice skating rink in winter, which can be used 24/7. If you don't have your own ice skates, you can rent them from the museum from Wednesday to Sunday at 10:00-17:00.Ice skating at our rink depends on the weather and ice conditions, so it is best to call ahead and ask about the ice conditions. There are lights by the ice skating rink, providing a cosy illumination even in the evening darkness.Ice skating can also be part of a birthday/party. Catering can also be arranged and rooms can be rented in the community centre or museum. Additionally, you can go sledging and tubing in winter when there's snow.
