Meenikunno Bog is one of the most exciting and unique bog landscapes in Southern Estonia, where nature is constantly changing. This young bog has not formed through the overgrowth of a lake, but through the swampification of land — the bog seems to "hang in the air," offering a rare opportunity to feel the ground sway beneath your feet during a bog hike. A 2-3 hour bog hike (up to 5 km) is suitable for beginners, nature enthusiasts, and families with older children. The length of the hike is adjusted to the group's wishes, and an experienced guide introduces the bog's formation, folklore, and the area's biodiversity. Along the way, you may encounter cranes, swans, or even capercaillies. It is an ideal destination for those seeking peace, adventure, and authentic Estonian nature. Guided bog hikes take place year-round; in winter, Meenikunno offers white expanses, enjoyable views, and easy movement; in early summer, a sea of blooming plants; and in autumn, a bubbling play of colors. Opened in 1969, the Struve Monument is dedicated to the former director of the Tartu Observatory, Fr. G. W. Struve (15 April 1793 – 23 November 1864), a Russian astronomer and geodesist of German origin. Under his leadership, the meridian arc was measured between 1816 and 1855 to determine the shape and size of the globe.The monument is an abstract work, inspired by the spirit of its era, reflecting the pursuit of the human race into space. The lower part of the sculpture is a sundial and the upper part is an hourglass. The authors of the monument are Olav Männi and Udo Ivask.The Struve street and the geodetic arc are also dedicated to him in Tartu.

On the shores of Lake Võrtsjärv, you will find the Kiviranna recreation centre and its two holiday homes – TORM (STORM) and TUUL (WIND). Each house can accommodate up to six people. There is a bedroom with four single beds (extra beds can also be provided) on the first floor of both houses. On the ground floor, there is a sofa bed for two. The houses have a kitchenette and the necessary kitchenware. The living room has a TV and a stereo system, and a small library for younger and older guests alike. We recommend asking for an IGLOO SAUNA.
Come walk with your family on the Taevaskoda hiking trail, located in the Ahja River Valley Landscape Reserve. The trail starts from the Taevaskodade parking lot and runs circularly along both banks of Ahja River, where the outcrops of Väike and Suur Taevaskoja, caves formed by springs, and picturesque views catch your eye.At the beginning of the hiking trail, there is an information board with a map of the recreational area and the trail. On the trail, signs in Estonian, English, and Russian will help you find the way. Visitors with a wheelchair or a stroller can travel along the alternative trail to Suur Taevaskoda, length 3 km. Good to know: you can see kingfishers flying around while walking in Taevaskoda.

The Estonian blue-black-and-white national flag waves in the highest flagstaff in Estonia – on the renewed Central Square in the centre of Otepää. The flag was hoisted on a 20-metre flagstaff on the National Flag Day on 4 June 2009, when 125 years passed from the day when the first blue-black-and-white flag was commemorated and consecrated. Next to the flag are information stands with the story of the Estonian flag, and in the nearby Community Garden, you can learn exciting facts about the history of Otepää.The flag consecrated on 4 June 1884 was initially the flag of Estonian University Students, then the Estonian national flag, and when the Republic of Estonia was established, blue, black, and white were declared the national colours.
