Tunnels dug in the bright sandstone of Piusa's caves are undoubtedly one of the best-known tourist attractions in ancient Võromaa. For several years now, a fun bat-shaped visitor centre has been waiting here for visitors. The Piusa visitor centre has a cafe, seminar room, craft room, cinema hall and numerous exhibits. Guests can watch a movie about bats, the most important inhabitants of caves, in the cinema hall, and then head along with a guide to the museum cave viewing platform. There are no bats in the caves in the summer because they only come here to winter. Right behind the museum cave is Piusa sand quarry, Estonia's largest sandbox. The Piusa visitor centre and the picturesque sandy hills offer a unique experience where nature and history intertwine – the mysterious caves of former glass sand mines can be discovered here and the most beautiful views of the sand quarry in Estonia can be enjoyed. With its steep slopes and sandstone outcrops, the Piusa sandy hills are like a natural adventure park that captivates both hiking enthusiasts and photographers.

To keep both your mind and your body in the best possible shape, come and spend a refreshing day on the Kuremaa skiing tracks. There is a track to suit everyone, from beginners to seasoned skiers, in stunning surroundings. We are located between picturesque passes and a suitable trail can be found for both beginners and experienced skiers, walkers or runners.The trails run in nature, up and down the mountains.Be sure to choose footwear according to the weather, because the grass becomes slippery and muddy in places when it rains. 2.56 km. trail is lit Mon-Sun until 9:00 PM You can relax after your exertions in the Kuremaa sauna and pool.

Rivaal Guesthouse is located on the shore of the Põltsamaa River in the city centre, next to the Rose Island. In winter, when Lake Peipsi is frozen, the Mesi Tare family offers guests a real adventure holiday — a winter day on Lake Peipsi! The host takes the group out onto the lake ice in a karakat (a vehicle specially built for driving on ice), teaches them how to fish, and catches fish from an ice hole with the group. The fish that are caught are used to make a delicious soup in a pot set up on the lake ice. After a 3-hour karakat safari and ice fishing, a heated tent sauna awaits on shore, where you can warm up your body and then cool off in an ice hole! Enjoy an authentic Lake Peipsi experience with your family, children, and pets!

A black granite memorial tablet bearing almost 200 names was installed on the wall of the Valga Jaani (St John’s) Church in 1934 in remembrance of the Finnish volunteers who fell in the Paju Battle of the War of Independence. The polar bear sign of the Northern Sons Regiment is shown on the shield above the stone. In 1940 the memorial tablet was demolished with pickaxes by the order of communists. The memorial tablet was reopened on the 80th anniversary of the Paju Battle in 1999.Interesting facts: * the memorial tablet was opened in 1934 by President Konstantin Päts; * the first table was made in Finland and the second one in Tartu; * donations for the second tablet were collected by Ylistaro Rural Municipality (Finland) at the initiative of Ossi Salo.

The length and terrain of the trail make it suitable for moderate training or leisurely enjoying the nature. The trail with its ups and downs runs along winding forest paths and straight forest rides, passing through different forest communities.The trail is 30 km long. It starts and ends at the Kukemetsa forest hut. The trail is marked with signs and runs along forest roads to the north.The best recreation sites along the trail are the forests, Selgise hills, Kukemetsa forest hut, which is approximately 500 m off the trail, and Kärgandi campfire site. The trail was built by the State Forest Management Centre.

The restaurant does not have a fixed menu. We prepare our food using fresh seasonal products, which is preferably of local origin. We have been influenced by Estonian and European cuisine, but you will also find subtle hints to cuisines from further corners of the world.
