Otepää is known as the winter capital and the mecca of winter sports. From here, it's easy to go have fun at both Munakas, the Väike-Munamäe ski center, and Kuutsemäe. Weightlifter Alfred Neuland (1895-1966) who was born in Valga is the first Estonian Olympic Champion. He returned with a gold medal from the Antwerp Olympic Games in 1920. He was also successful at the Paris Olympic Games where he won the silver medal.Interesting facts: * sculptor Mati Karmin is the author of the bronze bust; * Hermann Lerchenbaum, the first Estonian known to have taken part in Olympic Games as a member of the US Navy's rowing team at the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens, was also born in Valga.

Roosisaare (Rose island) Suspension Bridge is a footbridge that was built in 1998 at the end of the Tamula beach promenade. The bridge boasts a wonderful view of the City of Võru and Lake Tamula.Useful information: Roosisaare Bridge is 100 metres long.

Sirje Kruusamäe with her family welcomes you at the Toomemäe Farm in the village of Saabolda. The home restaurant Maagõkõnõ (poppy in Estonian) is the result of Sirje’s long-standing dream. When the family bought the farm, it was surrounded by a poppy field. Now, they are used to decorate the walls of the home cafe.The restaurant serves gourmet local good. Our most popular dishes are pike cutlets, warm cottage cheese, and home-made ice cream, but also delicious pies. Dormitory of Luua Forestry School offers its guests two- and three-room apartments with open-plan kitchens; the rooms are single and twin. The building also has a recreation room, a gym, and a sauna, all available for use.Good to know: dormitory welcomes guests at the weekends and school holidays; during other times, guests are welcome if beds are available.

The heart of Luke Manor is a beautiful neo-baroque park full of greenery and flowers. It has terraces on different levels, uniquely shaped trees, concrete lion statues, and a sculpture of Eve. The park also has a restored pond system, which adds a special charm. The manor was first mentioned in 1557. Today, the governor's house and the dollhouse-like Kärner's House have been restored. There is also an information point, an exhibition, and a cafe in the summer. The park is open all year round for free.
