Koseveski Holiday Centre is surrounded by breathtaking scenery of Lake Kose in Saare Rural Municipality, Jõgeva County. The holiday centre is perfect for birthdays, weddings, summer retreats, seminars and other events. The centre has beds for 31. You can rent the entire centre or just the sauna and its lounge – whatever fits your needs. You can have fun relaxing or enjoy the outdoors in more active ways – canoeing on the river, cycling, fishing, etc.
Lutsu Farm welcomes all visitors, but specially those, interested in orienteering. The basics of orienteering will be introduced and there is option to practice it as well. Different orienteering games and hikes for groups can be arranged. Also try the natural water massage, under the small waterfall.
The Meremäe Viewing Tower is located between Meremäe village and Vastseliina Castle on Meremäe Hill (204 m). Based on its name, one might think that the sea might be visible from the tower. However, the sea, as we know it today, is about 250 km from here, though Lake Pskov – which is not visible on the opposite side, and which was probably also called a sea in the old days – is just 40 km away. In fine weather, the domes of the churches of the Pskov-Caves Monastery in Pechory can be seen from the tower. The wide view of Setomaa's fields and forests is amazingly beautiful in every season, regardless of the weather. Fifteen people can climb the viewing tower at a time.
Obinitsa Church was built deep in the Soviet era: 1952, when the country was led by Comrade Stalin. The people's desire for a new sanctuary (the old church was given to the school) was so great, that it bypassed the politics of the day. The Obinitsa Church's main holiday is 19 August - The Feast of the Transfiguration - and thousands of people visit the church that day to remember their ancestors and spend time with a relatives. People have been buried in Obinitsa Cemetery for at least 1,500 years. The oldest burials are marked by small stones located in the western part of the cemetery. The well-known Seto singer Hilana Taarka and the creator of the Obinitsa Museum, Lidia Sillaots, are buried in this park-like cemetery.
The Pikksaare hiking trail begins at the swimming and camping area by Lake Pangodi. While walking along the hiking trail, you can enjoy peace and idyllic views of the lake and the surrounding nature and make a short detour to the War of Independence Memorial. The directional signs placed along the trail will help make the hike smoother. The hiking trail passes the Pangodi campfire site, where you can take a short break, as there is a shelter, a barbecue area, a nice swimming spot, and opportunities for camping. The communal granary in Nursi Village by the Võru-Valga road was built in the second half of the 19th century.Building of communal granaries started in Estonia already during the second half of the18th century. The required grain reserve was kept there and peasants could borrow grain for food or sowing.As this is the place of summer spare-time activities in Rõuge Rural Municipality, the Nursi communal granary is also known as Midriait.You can see the unplastered quarrystone building with a hipped roof from the outside.
Võru Institute is the creative home of Võro language and culture: here, you can ask about the language and customs of Võro. There is an exhibition sale of books in the Võro language. The e-shop Umapuut of Old-Võromaa sells books in the Võro language, CDs with Võro songs, a wide selection of local crafts, and souvenirs with Võro symbols. If you wish, you can order a short course of the Võro language as well as lectures or presentations on the Võro language and cultural space at the institute.To learn about the cultural heritage of Old-Võromaa, first visit the local museums, which open the doors to the local culture. The museums have permanent exhibitions, theme days, and workshops.
