Two-day hike on the River Võhandu with kayak or canoe

The upper reaches of the Võhandu River, otherwise known as the Pühajõgi River, are ideal for canoeing if the water is a little higher than the summer average. The natural environment in the area is diverse and interesting, sometimes offering expansive views, other times hemmed in on both sides by trees and forests. There are parts of the river that are rockier and more like rapids, reminiscent of the Ahja River. Here and there you might come across beavers and kingfishers.The trip can be extended by starting from the village of Vidrike and crossing the 11 lakes that make up the Kooraste chain. If you choose this option you can make your hike a two-day one, camping overnight on the shore of Lake Suurjärv.

A canoe trip is an excellent opportunity to discover Estonia's beautiful rivers and experience the importance of teamwork. A joint adventure on a body of water helps you get to know your companions better and develop cooperation skills. During the drier summer period, we paddle down larger rivers, where the water flows more calmly. During spring and autumn's high water seasons, there is an opportunity to discover less frequently visited waterways, such as the floods in Soomaa National Park. It is possible to order campfire meals or a bushcraft workshop to go along with your canoe trip. There is also the possibility of going on multi-day trips. Pühajõgi is the upper course of the River Võhandu that is upstream from the town of Võru. This stretch of river has not been used much for water travel until now. Now, it has been cleaned and waiting to be discovered!The trip goes along the river with clear water and many small rapids.Route and length: Kärgula–Hutita 3.5 hours (13 km). Minimum size of the group: 10 people; smaller groups can join scheduled trips.Maximum size of the group: 90 people.Price: canoe trip €20 per person and kayak trip €22 per person.Price for children: €12 per person (6–16 years).Price includes: canoe or kayak rental and transportation of equipment, safety equipment, instructions and securing the trip from the river banks.

Come on an overnight canoe trip around Emajõe-Suursoo, which is known for its rich biodiversity. Traveling by canoe along the rivers and lakes of the bog offers a unique natural experience in places that can only be discovered by water. We start the canoe trip in the silence of the early morning, and it ends the next day at lunchtime. You will get to experience what it's like to sleep in a hanging bed (rental available from the organizer) amidst the sounds of nature at night. The trip includes equipment, tour guide service, trip organization, and meals. The trip is suitable for children aged 13 and above.

The adventure on the Kooraste lakes takes place on 11 different bodies of water – lakes Vidrike, Voki, Lambahanna, Nahajärv, Sinikejärv, Lubjaahju, Liinu, Pikkjärv, Vaaba, Hatsike and Kooraste Suurjärv – connected by the narrow, winding Sillaotsa River. A primeval valley, beaver dams, and wild nature are just some of the things you will see and experience on this trip. During spring, there is plenty of water, but in drier seasons, there are some sections where you may have to carry your canoe with you. The lakes are normally warm in summer and perfect for swimming.We welcome families with children and groups of friends and colleagues. We organise trips for both small and large groups.

During the kayaking trip we will be introducing to you Lake Pühajärv and its islands, enjoy the beautiful lake views and Estonian summer.The picnic place will be RMK Kooliranna campfire site.For the kayaking trips, we use stable, comfortable, safe and easily steered two-person kayaks. The price of the trip includes a place in the kayak with equipment, guiding service, substantial trip peal (soup, pastry, tea or juice, sweet pastry or fruit) and bottled water to quench your thirst.Come and enjoy the nature with your friends or colleagues!

River Ahja is well-known for it picturesque and primeval nature. Sandstone outcrops border the river, you can see beavers, otters and the favourite of nature photographers — kingfisher. Some parts of the river have a stronger current, while others are calmer.The hike begins from Koorvere or Kiidjärve and summer hikes include a pancake picnic. All hikers will be given thorough instructions before the hike and guides will keep an eye on you during the canoeing trip.
