Tartu Bike Marathon track

Valga mnt 12, Otepää vald, Valga maakond, 67403

Every autumn, the Tartu Bike Marathon brings thousands of sports enthusiasts to Southern Estonia, but completing the marathon distance requires practice.
The 86 km long track of the Tartu Bike Marathon starts from the stadium of the Tehvandi Sports Center in Otepää and ends in Elva at the Tartumaa Health Sports Center. The track is technically undemanding and largely follows the famous Tartu Marathon route. Signage with kilometer markings is available for movement in both directions.
The Tartu Rattamaraton track is designed for both hiking and athletic training. The track primarily runs on forest roads and smaller gravel roads and is suitable for a range of bicycles. The diverse landscape of the Otepää Nature Park and countless lakes offer not only physical exertion but also visual beauty and mental refreshment, and why not take a stretching break at the Harimäe observation tower?
Southern Estonia, full of opportunities for active recreation, invites you to explore its landscapes by bike!

Palamuse O. Luts’s Parish School Museum

The historical Palamuse Parish Schoolhouse is now open to visitors as it was seen in 1895. There, you will find the classroom and the living rooms of the parish clerk, known from the movie Kevade. The heart of the museum is located in the freshly completed main building, where you will also find a classroom and a workshop. The main exhibition of the main building is meant for the whole family, reflecting the history of the Estonian parish schools through Kevade. The text introducing the entire building seems to have been written by the character Toots from the movie: you can learn to play the violin, catch Lati Pac, and see what Toots was hiding in his pockets! You can also learn how the movie Kevade was made and how it affected the Estonian culture.

`Mustjärv` lake in Nohipalu

`Mustjärv` (Black lake) is located 0,5 km to the south of the `Valgejärv` (White Lake) and is larger and a complete opposite to its neighbour. The banks of this forest lake are low, boggy and, especially in the south, difficult to move along. Its waters are acidic, reddish-brown, extremely opaque (transparency is only 0,4 m), and rich in organic elements. Hikers can rest on the banks near a fire or make a picnic in a specially equipped roofed place.

Uue-Saaluse smoke sauna experience

We invite you to experience an authentic, private smoke sauna adventure in Võru County, amidst the hills of Haanja in Southern Estonia. The Uue-Saaluse smoke sauna is located right by the lakeside, offering not only a sauna but also a refreshing swim. As a bonus, you can watch the short film "The Devil Comes to Sauna," which was filmed right here at Uue-Saaluse. In the sauna, you will be guided by an experienced sauna woman who conducts rituals and creates a mindful sauna experience. Each guided sauna experience is unique – sometimes you need the power of birch branches, other times calming herbal compresses. Even different seasons and moon phases have their own influence. We collaborate with the best in the field, and the smoke sauna tradition of Old Võromaa is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Intangible Cultural Heritage list. If desired, you can also enjoy the sauna independently, without guidance. In addition to the sauna, you can order a Uue-Saaluse wine farm tour with tastings of drinks made at the farm and catering.
