There is a mystic spring on the Laiuse drumlin. The spring was used as a sacrificial spring during the second millennium and considered a holy place by ancient Estonians. The folk believed that the spring is a source of strength, gives rain and drought, causes dearth or ensures a good harvest. They believed the water in the spring heals eyes and many other ailments. This winter, a skating rink of almost 1,000 square metres will be erected around the Kissing Students fountain on the Town Hall Square, where the most romantic and fun winter entertainment – skating – can be enjoyed under the starry sky.The skating rink can be used free of charge, and both young and old guests can rent skates from the pavilion in the immediate vicinity of the rink on the basis of a price list. You will certainly notice the Von Bock House (1780) at Ülikooli 16 in the centre of Tartu, which used to belong to Oberst MJ von Bock. The University of Tartu bought the building in 1839. The house was renovated and reopened in 2007. There is a mural that depicts the main building of the University of Tartu on the building’s wall that faces the Town Hall and an exhibition of Alar Madisson’s photos of current lecturers and legendary professors of the University of Tartu is up on the wall next to Jakobi Street.Interesting facts: - the Von Bock has been the home of the University of Tartu Clinic, a veterinary school and the library of the Learned Estonian Society in different times. The building currently belongs to the University of Tartu.

The Upper Härma Wall, also known as Keldri wall, is Estonia's highest Devonian sandstone outcrop. At 150-metres in length, it extends to a height of 19 metres, compared to the valley's edge which reaches a total height of 43 metres. Lower Härma, or Kõlgusniidu Wall, is also close by with a total height of 20.5 metres. Lower Härma, a projecting rock face, is arguably one of the most beautiful walls in the Piusa Ancient Valley, well-known for its brightly coloured layers of clay and majestic pyramid shape. This beautiful area has the added benefit of being host to a fantastic campsite for those wanting to make campfires, located in the meadow at the bend in the river.
In the Mesi Tare fish cooking workshop, we prepare local dishes from seasonal Peipsi fish! The fish cooking workshop, held in the courtyard of the Mesi Tare Holiday Home, covers the entire process from start to finish, including cleaning, filleting, preparation, and cooking the fish. Depending on the season and the fish we have, we cook uhhaa, a traditional fish soup, smoke the fish, pan fry fish, etc. And finally, the moment that everyone is especially looking forward to — we serve the food and enjoy an authentic meal in an Old Believers' village on the Onion Route. The winter fish cooking workshop includes an experience on the ice with a karakat ride on frozen Lake Peipsi, ice fishing, and preparing uhhaa. See you at the workshop!
