In the historic basement of Alatskivi Castle, a workshop led by a master potter awaits you, where you can sculpt cups, bowls, or other clay objects yourself. This experience combines creativity, craftsmanship, and the unique atmosphere of the manor. Book a workshop in advance! However, if you visit the castle with children and master Tanel is working at the same time, you can leave the children to sculpt in the pottery room—it's often the children's favorite activity at the manor! Tanel glazes the finished objects himself and sends them to your home by mail. Beautiful, one-of-a-kind objects sculpted by Tanel himself can be purchased as souvenirs. Mesi tare guesthouse offers the opportunity to spend the night in boat houses located on the shores of Lake Peipus. You can choose between 5 boat houses. The boats are in different sizes, all with a large double bed in the bow, a seating area, and a kitchenette equipped with electricity and a mini-fridge. There is outdoor seating next to the boat and a campfire site with barbecue facilities. At the beach you'll find a sand-bottom swimming area.Various old boats have been brought to life offering a romantic and authentic accommodation. Wine-related knowledge is a part of cultural behaviour, which offers great practical value.Participants in the training-tasting by the Estonian Wine Academy will learn the basic rules for combining wines with meat products, cheeses, seafood, and desserts, as well as combining the wines and dishes of traditional wine countries. Participants will be given a certificate at the end of the training. In 1562, Walk (the old name of present-day Valga) along with the rest of Livonia was handed over to Poland as part of the ceasefire agreement of the Livonian War. The city rights of Valga were signed by Polish King Stefan Batory on June 11, 1584, based on his colonization policy. The king believed that land should be granted as hereditary property to new Catholic settlers (peasants, craftsmen, merchants) in Livonia and thereby strengthen Catholicism in Livonia.Therefore, there is a monument dedicated to Stefan Batory on Kesk Avenue in Valga, which was completed in 2002 as a joint effort of the city of Valga, and the Hungarian and Polish embassies.
As the name suggests, it is a museum that introduces means of communication and laptops. The Communication and Laptop Museum opened its doors on June 10, 2023. In the communications museum section, there is a switchboard with cords, a telephone exchange from 1969; main distribution frame; telephone sets; payphones + payphone booths; overhead lines; mail baskets; communication instruments. Large Elion-Microlink-EMT-Telia signs and logos that used to be on the buildings. Also over several hundred mobile phones, among them old NMT mobile devices, antennas, and a 13 m cell phone mast. In terms of computers, there are a few desktop computers and twenty laptops.You can make calls inside the museum with a dial phone.
