At our small but authentic Kolkja Fish and Onion Restaurant, we offer genuine Old Believer dishes from the Peipsi region, prepared with freshly caught lake fish and locally grown, world-famous Peipsi onions. The dishes are based on traditional recipes passed down through generations, reflecting the unique culinary culture of the Peipsi lakeshore area. The menu features smoked fish, richly flavored fish soup, hearty onion soup, juicy fish patties, and a variety of desserts, including traditional Old Believer pies. The culinary experience is crowned with a traditional samovar tea, which is best enjoyed slowly in good company. The restaurant is located on the Onion Route (Sibulatee), and our cozy setting is perfect for families, friends, and travel groups alike. For groups, we offer the opportunity to arrange storytelling by the restaurant’s hostess about local life and Old Believer customs, as well as readings from old books, making the visit unique and memorable.

La Storia is the newest restaurant in Põlva. We opened our doors in December 2018. We offer delicious Italian dishes, wonderful interior, and excellent service. Italian ice cream can be enjoyed on our sunny summer terrace. Our pizzas are highly appreciated by our customers, and the seafood soup is also a favourite among visitors. How many bees are needed to make one kilo of honey? Does honey always taste the same? How do bees communicate with each other, and how fast do bees fly? How many flowers does a bee visit during a foraging flight? Your questions will be answered at the unique Mesi Tare honey workshop on the Onion Route. We will taste honey and learn how to distinguish between fake honey and real honey! We will discuss how each of us can help protect bees and what threats they face. We will also drink a nice cup of tea, as is the custom of the Old Believers, and explore the impressive samovar collection at the Samovar House. Come and have a treat with your friends and family!

At Ilmaveere Restaurant in Setomaa, you will find a cozy atmosphere, dishes made with seasonal local ingredients, and the most beautiful view of South Estonian nature and Lake Obinitsa! The restaurant follows the principle of zero waste and respects and uses every part of every ingredient, leaving the smallest possible footprint. What is left over goes to our wonderful chickens.
