The kicksled trip lasts approximately 2.5 hours, is suitable for beginners, and takes place at a gentle pace with breaks. This is a great choice if you are looking for something special for a family trip, a group of friends, a company outing, or a birthday. The trip can be enriched with a campfire meal at Maitsemaa Metsarestoran. What is an illuminated kicksled? The illuminated kicksled, developed by Matkajuht, features LED lights that shine in four directions and a comfortable seat. It is not an ordinary sled with a bicycle light or headlamp. It has been specially designed for travel in the dark, so that the light shines discreetly, softly, and diffusely, without dazzling.
The beautiful Vooremäe health trails in the Kastre rural municipality are open all year round. The trails are perfect for walking, running, cycling, and skiing. The longest skiing track is 8 km long and 4.2 km of it is illuminated until 10 p.m. in the winter. There is a sled hill (also illuminated) and downhill bike tracks and wonderful views.Since spring 2016, it is also possible to play disc golf here (18 baskets).
A kicksledding trip through Taevaskoja in South Estonia will take you to a true winter wonderland! The trip runs along the ancient valley of the Ahja River, past the Taevaskoja sandstone outcrops, through enchanting snowy forests, and past the beautiful, crisp Ahja River. The tour guide will tell exciting stories about nature and Taevaskoda and offer hot tea to warm you up. Tähtvere Sport Park, located in Tartu's Supilinn area, offers activities for everyone and is ideal for an active day. The sports park has several trail options: an 850-meter asphalt roller track for rollerblading and roller skiing in summer, an 850-meter woodchip running track, and a 1.2 km sprint track. In winter, both the roller track and the sprint track are covered with artificial snow and maintained with a trail tractor, allowing skiing in both classic and freestyle techniques even when natural snow is scarce. One of the most important and internationally known parts of Tähtvere Sport Park is the Tartu Bike Park, which features four key facilities: a skatepark, a pump track, a BMX cross track, and a bike park. These pose challenges for both experienced riders and those trying cycling for the first time. The sports park also offers a variety of exciting activities, including an outdoor gym with different areas, a climbing wall, and slackline tracks. The Tartu Song Festival Grounds and Tähtvere disc golf park are also near the park.
In the city centre of Tartu, around the new Tartu Environmental Education Centre, there is a large park covering 10,000 m² and containing a large number of species. Old and ancient trees meet newly designed park trails offering learning and recreational possibilities in the hilly park. The park is home to over 80 species of trees and shrubs and over 200 species of herbaceous plants.A visitor can find peat, butterfly, and vegetable beds in the park; there is also a man-made beaver nest, a sun dial, a fountain, an observation tower, and a study trail about rocks. The old orchard has also been preserved. Children can have fun at the otter slide, a three-sand sandbox, and a carousel. Park facilities and plants are introduced by several information boards.
